So, it seems that I'm another one with the same issue... The game won't start at all, no matter what I do. Updated the game, updated DirectX (up to the version delivered on the DVD, by the way) and updated my driver. And it happened... absolutely nothing.
Windows XP Professional (Service Pack 2) [Never had Vista on it and never plan to do so] AMD Athlon XP 2500+ ATI Radeon X1600 Sapphire (Driver Version 7.7) 512MB RAM MSI KT6V (Motherboard)
Thats written when I ask Windows for additional Info about why the heck it wouldn't work:
AppName: lostplanetdx9.exe AppVer: 1.0.0.3 ModName: lostplanetdx9.exe ModVer: 1.0.0.3 Offset: 00002c7e
In the beginning I thought I couldn't get more ****ed about anything worse than the fact that I have to wait until the bloody servers of Steam are less busy, so I can play. But now, well, I've changed my mind. I'm even more ****ed now. I'll wait for a week, not more and not less. If they fix it, fine. If nothing comes up, I'll return the goddamn game and buy another one for which I don't need neither steam nor a support forum just to make it run.

Hmm how to say this... Your processor is too old along with the rest of the computer sorry to tell you. I wish they would post this as a sticky... Here are the bare system requirements to run this game OS: Windows XP or higher CPU: Intel Pentium 4 supporting HT technology AMD: Athlon 64 3500+ or greater Ram: 512MB (Windows XP) 1GB (Windows Vista) Hard: Drive 8GB + Disc Drive: DVD9 Compatable Video: VRAM 256MB, DirectC 9.0c/Shader3.0 Nvidia GeForce 6600 or greater For ATI supported cards visit http://lostplanetcommunity.comSound: DirectSound compatible DirectX 9.0c Peripherals: Mouse, Keyboard Internet: Broadband connection required to play

My Processor does not matter. It's perfectly adjusted to the rest. A 3000+ wouldn't higher the overall power significant and a 3500+ wouldn't get along with my mainboard. In the end, it's OK until I buy a new PC. On this one, I can play almost every game on max, such as Prey, Half-Life 2 etc. The processor hasn't a single bit of influence on the issue I have, which is the same as everyone else. Even If this one is under the 'system requirements', only the game would be a bit slower, but the rest would run perfectly. Well, apart from the fact, that the game does not run.

Your cpu only supports: The Athlon XP supports most of the enhanced CPU instructions (MMX, SSE, Extended AMD MMX, 3DNow! and Extended 3DNow!) with the exception of SSE2, which is a feature of Intel's Pentium 4 and the newer AMD's
your processor does not support SSE2, SSE3
|
|
|
But though, it has nothing to do with it, cause I have exactly the same problem like others who have a stronger CPU. If there would be a patch that fixes the issue and my PC would be the only one on which the game wouldn't run though it would work on everyone else's, then maybe it would be a problem caused by the CPU. But only then, which isn't the case now.

So what your saying is there are few others wit the same problem yet they are running amd 3500+ and under... or are they above.. Seen the admin post already about the SSE2, SSE3 on a simular subject doesn't matter if you can clock it up it still doesn't handle the process like the new porcessors. If you get it working on a 2500 and show proof I will apolagize but if not well then I guess you #%!@ out of luck.

You know what, it doesn't look like it's going to be fixed. I'm not that pacient, I never was. I get many games running on my PC that aren't supposed to be. But it looks like this one isn't ever going to get running, cause the guys here don't seem to give a %@ about us. So, I'll do a simple and easy thing: I'll give the game back and buy another one. But apart from Half-Life 2 Episode 2 and 3, it was for sure the goddamn last time that I bought something that needs Steam. And it's for sure the last time that my PC ever saw Lost Planet.
