Since it takes three with the plasma gun as opposed to two with the rifle, yes. Also, because the plasma cannons are completely silent until impact. You don't know how many times I'll roll a rocket strictly by sound. I can't do that at all with the plasma cannon so basically, if I get shot in the back, I'm dead and never had a chance. At least if it took two, I would have a chance to get back up and try to get them first, unless they're really good at timing recoveries. I would even be happy if they added a sound to let you know it was coming.


 






 


Well, actually it does make a sound, it's sort of a "pump" noise, have you fired it before?


 


It may be just that it's hard to hear when your farther away.





I used it a little bit in the beginning, but I got the noms for it ridiculously fast. I never really did notice a noise, and definitely not while being the victim of these attacks in multiplayer.

not sure about the Plasma Cannon but the Plasma Cannon SP has a small firing range.  dont think they are over powered.  they us a lot of t energy and this is a reload time.

If you think it is over-powered, try using it against bots at close range when they know you exist...


Most of the time they dodge the shots, and if you miss your basically stuck rolling around for 5 long seconds while they lay down lead on you.

Haha I always turn VS's off in player matches. I prefer hand-to-hand combat, but I see what you're getting at. It's just when I am playing ranked matches, more often than not, I find myself fighting someone with a plasma cannon SP and my best counter attack is a machine gun or an energy gun? It'd be nice if heavy weapons was an option for an initial weapon, that way I could actually get some practice in against these.

I honestly would like it if all weapons went too t-eng usage, i think the game would be much more intresting and overall a better game. t-eng weapons have infinite ammo as long as you keep your t-eng guage up, this means that places in multiplayer and campaign like data-posts and t-eng nubs are very important. if enemies and Vs's dropped more t-eng this would give people extra incintive to attack and retrieve t-eng from enemies.


 


a game mode that consists of nothing but t-eng type weapons. the rapid fire PlasmaGunSP would be the new machinegun. the PlasmaGun would be the new sniper, and the PlasmaCannon would be the new Heavy, as well as EnergyGun could be secondary choice for PlasmaGunSP.


 


this would bring the focus back onto t-eng which i believe is a absolutly necessary gameplay mechanic in the LostPlanet series, but take away the t-eng dependency on life (you dont die if you run out of t-eng you just cant shoot your weapons).

I'm trying to help make this game better and you can't do anything except COMPLAIN about everything I have to say. Express your thoughts, fine, that's what a forum is for, but stick to things that relate to the game. Sorry, there's no downloadable patch to change who I am to fit your needs. I'm asking about people's opinions and opinions can't be right nor wrong, they're opinions. So stop attacking my character and perceiving every single post from me as "complaining" because I'm not. I'm trying to help make the game better and you're just trying to cut down every single attempt. This isn't politics so stop trying to cut me down. Here's my input: The plasma cannons are completely impractical to use without t-eng weapon master 2.  They overheat really quickly and chomp your t-eng out quick. Instead of ONCE AGAIN complaining about features/players that give you trouble, try to understand that it's all part of the game. I love the plasma cannon, but I don't even use it in multiplayer.

I think most people who are saying "complaining" are sick of how the boards have gone from people talking about the game, to a bunch of whinners. All anyone does here is come on and complain about something they haven't been able to over come. Worst is that they call these things "game breaking" and other sorts of nonsense like that. One thread said the game was inbalanced, then turned around and expressed a wish to carry a rocket launcher and a hand cannon sp at the same effing time. They complain about gun sworders AND machine gun stun....in the same sentence! Most complaints here aren't even close to being valid. Nobody ever talks about the rubber band AI in the campaign. Nobody talks about how there are many things with the AI that can make the game feel more like a series of scripts. All anyone ever does is come on here and ***** and moan about how this gun is "overpowered" because it's effective. One clown actually said the effing MG2 is overpowered.....

the majority of people that are talking about changes within the game (and that many are stating is complaining) are talking about changing core gameplay mechanics. the roll, the machinegun stun, the animations out of roll, landing from a jump, stumble from something blowing up, grappling animations. these are core gameplay mechanics that seperate this game from every other shooter. getting rid of any of these gameplay mechanics would take the game out of the hide & seek type gameplay (that i for one love and adore about this game), and force it into the run & gun mentality of Gears, MW2 and Halo.


i for one think this game has some of the best and most technical multiplayer out of any game on the 360-this games mulitplayer is on par with GhostRecon which i thought was the best before i found this game, however it could be better by adding such features like the ability to party up with friends in player matches. but to say that the games unfair or unbalanced because it offers to much..
