Plasma cannons are one the most underpowered weapons in this game. I tried it for a while and it could barely kill anyone. It took me like 4 shots to down an enemy and thats pretty much the shots you could use. And they never rolled or anything. I kept knocking him back on the ground and stilll they don't die in one shot.
Then you're missing or they're lagging, or they have Survival on, or a combination of the three. Plasma cannons, as well as the SP, are one-hit KO.

And honestly, I have to agree that it seems like you've never posted a kind word about this game.
I'm not sure if you're talking about me or Kaos. There really haven't been any LP2 love threads that I've seen, and even then, the purpose of forums aren't to praise things, they're to criticize to try to help make things better. I'm a forum mod for Entercast and never once did I see a thread praising anything, it was always complaining about someone, complaining about something with the apps, helping others understand the apps, bugs/glitches, or suggestions on how to make them better. I think I praise the game enough by wearing the t-shirt and having a poster of it in my room, not to mention playing it like crazy. I'm giving it the respect it deserves by posting anything in here, let alone as much as I do, as well as helping generate traffic to this site.
Indeed I refer to you. I think Kaos said some good words about the game. :P I don't mean to offend, or anything, it's just calling things as I see them.
IMO, It's one thing to do as you describe and never say a good thing about the game, and do as you describe and say something good now and then. One promotes complete negativity, and makes it seem like you hate every facet about the game, and mysteriously still play it. The other makes us understand why you like the game enough to keep playing it despite all the problems. Being a moderator and being a person that posts regularly outside of staff business are two diffirent worlds as well, IMO. I have moderation experience as well, so I have experience in the point of view. This website is a community as well as a forum, and not entirely a troubleshooting site. Even the curmudgeon of the community can mention something positive. To keep on topic, even though I have no real experience in dodging these things coz I never faced them long, or much (I can barely remember seeing them, ever!), but maybe rolling into, and through the attack can help? It sounds weird rolling into the attack, but frames of invulnerabilty+your movement+ the projectile's movement might help the attack go by before it does it's damage.

Plasma cannon sp isn't very good against VSs compared to other heavies. It has short range and its damage is spread out. For the most part it doesn't matter what heavy people have though. I use plasma cannon sp cause it's cool and I don't have to jump around like a weirdo. The rocket launcher ll does require some different counter tactics as do the handcannons. None of the heavies are any cheaper than the others, for the most part if you don't see them first, you die, like with a lot of weapons,
in the end, sniper always wins...

No offense taken. You didn't say anything in a belittling way. You called it as you saw it. I did say something in one thread about how I like the same so much, that the only reason I'm here is to try to help make it better so that way other people will like it too. And I do have a lot to say on that because I think they lost a lot of what made LP1 so awesome. So I'm sorry if it seems like an overwhelming amount of things I find wrong with this game, but it is mainly just ranked matches. Everything else is just little things I notice here and there that could use some tweaking. This thread was just intended to get people's ideas on this and their stance on the subject. I just think that plasma cannons should be to rocket launchers as plasma guns are to rifles. Theory of relativity. ;)

The plasma weapons are fine as is. Due to its giant consumption of 500 t-eng, it adds up to around 3 shots before it is sucked dry. The weapons downsides weigh heavily on its upsides as well. Every weapon has its downsides. There is nothing wrong about these weapons, just learn to dodge. There is no changes needed to this game. Radically changing the game further only makes it less fun. Besides, how else can you lessen the weapon strength of rocket related weapons? Would you prefer making it 2 shots to kill a single person instead of 1? absurd

Since it takes three with the plasma gun as opposed to two with the rifle, yes. Also, because the plasma cannons are completely silent until impact. You don't know how many times I'll roll a rocket strictly by sound. I can't do that at all with the plasma cannon so basically, if I get shot in the back, I'm dead and never had a chance. At least if it took two, I would have a chance to get back up and try to get them first, unless they're really good at timing recoveries. I would even be happy if they added a sound to let you know it was coming.

Well, actually it does make a sound, it's sort of a "pump" noise, have you fired it before? It may be just that it's hard to hear when your farther away.

I believe it makes sense for you to die once youre shot in the back. That is how shooters work afterall, the moment ur enemy has ur back, expect to do die without being able to see what happened. Weaknesses is always a person back. If you must, you can also use the fast motion camera to see all ur sides while moving foward.

Plasma Gun:
more ammo (55 thermal energy per blast/2000 starting thermal energy) less efficient (less damage and comparatively slow projectiles) Rifle: less ammo (20) more efficient (two hit kill bodyshots and hitscan) on the flipside: Plasma Cannon: less ammo (500 thermal energy per blast/2000 starting thermal energy) more efficient (the "stealth aspect") Rocket Launcher: more ammo (10) less efficient (the really loud sound)
