Actually in LP:EC me and a buddy did some testing and at a specific range (and it's not really enough to call it "long distance") the machine gun stops doing damage, but it still has the stun effect. From what I've seen it's the same in LP2. So the only thing you'll be using the machine gun for at long distances will be shooting disc grenades and attempting to knock someone off a grapple.
Nope, bullets do damage no matter what now. Although not much at longer range, you can still hurt people pretty bad if they don't figure out where they are being hit from. And I guess you're right Black Hound, it all comes down to preference. If the MGII works for you, go for it. I'll be sticking to the MG I or SP though.

I can't find any advantages for the MG II other than a slight DPS advantage over MG I. I think it reloads faster but it also runs through clips faster. Does MG II have more potential stun than MG I? (all bullets hitting full auto to the head)
in the end, sniper always wins...

No gun is a 'jack of all trades'
"Jack of all trades, master of none." That's the MG I. It can hit at long range, its effective medium range, and is lethal close range. Although, the Sniper can beat it at long range, and the shotgun can destroy it close range. So yes, the MG I is a 'Jack of all Trades'.
I understand what you mean now. I agree that it does passable work in a lot of areas, but one cannot blatantly discard other weapons as 'garbage' simply because they lack the knowledge on how to use them properly. Weapons to a soldier are like tools to a carpenter; you must understand everything about them to create a masterpiece. In this instance it includes clip size, RoF, damage per shot, effective range, and again, the proper strategy in their use. The list goes on.
Thats what I've been trying to say...

My MegaMan preference for MVC3 would had been Starforce, but yeah sure, I'll jump on this bandwagon, if X does indeed get in as DLC, there better be gamers playing as him or else this would had been a waste of time and missed opportunity for another Capcom Character...

Good arguement, but at medium to close, there are weapons that are better options. Rifle clips size and rate of fire come into play when compare to other competing weapons. The revolver is a good choice imo

Machine gun 1: better acuracy but lesser damage (long range) Machine gun 2: lesser acuracy but more damage (short range)

Machine gun 1: better acuracy but lesser damage (longer range)
Machine gun 2: lesser acuracy but more damage (shorter range)
pretty much sums it up p.s. I adder the er to the end of long range and short range so no one could say "no it can't be long range cause that's rifles" or "if it was short range, that would be like shotguns"

what i miss is the jump shoot tactic i used to use in LP1 with the rocket launcher/handcannon/plasma gun. its harder to pull off now when you get stunned everytime a machine gun hits you. i think the machine guns are a little to powerfull now, negates the advantage of the other weapons. just my opinion

Snipers, Rockets and Shotguns (i think Revolvers) have one hit kill possibilities where as the MG I doesn't, and theres something else you are not taking into account, this is the demo, we don't even have the other starter weapons yet.

Machine gun 2: lesser acuracy but more damage (short range)
This isnt all tho, MG2 runs out of ammo much quicker and I think it also reloads slower, which means that it must have more positive effects to balance it out, but what are they?
