I`ve found some optimism reserves in my head for this game and decided to analise multiplayer videos to find out some details.
It`s not and it won`t be the game we know and love but still it can be enjoyable. Here`s what i`ve found :

Lobby and matchmaking:

1. There are 4 types of match (mentioned by Andrew) that probably are 3 Scenarios, Akrid Survival, Elimination and Team Elimination.
Probably because we didn`t see last 2 yet, and it doesn`t appear in game menu. Could be that 3 Scenarios and 1 Akrid Survival are all we got. Considering narrative perspective of the game could be that they don`t want us to fight Nevec vs Nevec or Snow Pirates vs Snow Pirates in Elimination. But what about Team Elimination ? There are games on market like Ghost Recon Future Soldier that also don`t have Elimination or Team Elimination...
We`ll have to wait to find out.

There are 3 modes in Scenario. First where Nevec is approaching Snow Pirates base with Battlecat. Nevec is to protect vehicle and repair it, Snow Pirates are to destroy it and prevent repairing. VSs are available in this scenario for both teams. In second scenario Nevec and Snow Pirates are to kill big Akrid then gain Thermal Energy Sample it drops and bring it to enemies base. Team must deliver 3 samples to win the match. In third scenario Snow Pirates must destroy 3 generators using explosives and then escape with Thermal Energy Canister. Nevec is to stop them.

2. Most matches go with 10 players, but Akrid Survival that goes with 6.
3. Before the match in lobby you can vote on map, and choose your weapons kit (4 slots), probably also mute players or view profile (icon in the middle with human) and acces your progression sphere. Match starts automatically.
4. Each player has connection indicator that shows quality of his connection. Host has HOST description at his name. This should be good for lagg issues. Game also helps to find best match for you, probably depending on connection quality and region.
5. Match durration time is 11-12 minutes. Exception is scenario mode with Battlecat where time is added (2 min) after reaching each control point (3 walls on the way to enemies base).
6. 6 maps are available at launch day : Quarantine, Stronghold, Contact, Alpha Lair, Outpost, Research Lab. As good as we know CAPCOM we should expect DLCs with additional maps very soon.
7. Music playing in background is taken from LP2 . Brings back memoriesCry

Weapons :

1. Assault Rifle equivalent to Standard MG from LP2, slow but with high fire power, can be equiped with Incendiary Rounds.
2. P.I.G. equivalent to MG II from LP2, very fast but weaker, can be equiped with Stinger Rounds
3. Unkown name MG equivalen to MG SP from LP2 - shots 3 bullets bursts.
4. Particle Thrower - looks like kind of plasma thrower, possible overheating if used too long. You can upgrade it to second function that allows to steal thermal energy from enemies.
5. Grenade Launcher - allows to shot up to 6 grenades. Very good recompesation for lowered number of standard grenades. Can be equiped with Biotox or Explosive Rounds.

6. Shotgun - no details yet. Can be equiped with Bounce Shot (whatever it means).
7. Valkyrie - crossbow with scope - new weapon. Shots 2 arrows before reloading. You can upgrade it with quicker reload & fire function and exploiding bolts.
8. Grenades -  few types ; Frag Grenade with explosives, EMP Grenade that dissable VS and deployables , Anti-Armor Grenade designed to destroy VS, Disc Grenades - with explosives, explodes at collision. Could be more. Standard capacity 1-2 grenades but can be upgraded to more probably using abilities.

9. Hunting Rifle - traditional rifle with scope. Can be equiped with Depleted Uranium.

Deploaybles :

All deploaybles requier thermal energy to plant it.

1. Automatic Chaingun Turret - covers small area with heavy fire.
2. Biotox Mine -  releases deadly gas when activated by enemies. When planting it you`ll hear familiar sound. It`s VS activation sound from previous LP games.
3. Proximity Mine - same as above but explodes when activated
4. T-Energy Shield - stationary, transparent shield.

5. Proto-Harmonizer Node - item increasing regeneration time within its area of effect.

6. Nanothief - ability to steal enemies deployables and use it for your team.

Abilities :

There are many abilities giving player many advantages. One of it is Sixth Sense that reduces time needed to tag and trace enemy after aiming at him. Other warns you when somebody is aiming at you. Noxious Demise allows you to spread toxic gas when dying. Enhanced Repair allows to repair VSs and Battlecat faster. Credit Booster - allows to earn credits faster. Luckshot - no data yet, Survivor - no data yet, Everlong Grudge - no data yet.

Gameplay :

Grappling hook is limited to scripted points (green circles) but its probably still the fastes way to travel. Not sure about it cause people playing in videos seem not to be LP daily players Wink. It also has very long range and seems to be working quick. I`ve noticed some scripted points placed in position where it could have been used only for quick traveling, not to get on top of something. Question is if we can cancel anchor shot and how long are "landing" and "climbing" animations ? Falling down without anchor will cost us little life, but going down with anchor will not. There are special points for it, marked red.

Life regenerates automatically. It can be upgraded for faster regeneration. You can heal your teammates untill enemy won`t finish them with melee attack. Usually you`re not dead untill somebody will finish you (melee attack), headshot you or blow you up with grenade or VS rocket.

After respawn you have 6 seconds of invulnerability (counter under timer). Players spawn usually at base but there are some exceptions depending on match type.

Rolls seems to be working like earlier giving player invulnerability for a split second. But what`s interesting roll in multiplayer is completelly different than in singleplayer. In singleplayer it looks much more natural and polished. It has additional animation at the beginning and at the end. No idea why... ?

You can`t shot grenades </p

Altought most players shot with zoom it is possible to shot without it like in previous LP games.

You can repair Battlecat and VS. In VS you have unlimited ammo (Rockets and Gettling Gun) and first person view.

For the first time we have background music during match. Not only at the end but all the time. It sounds very good. There is also narrator coordinating teams objcetives. Nevec has cheesy male voice that brings me on mind Team Fortress 2 (even thought its male voice), Snow Pirates has female narrator that sounds like Luka form Extreme Condition (most likely her mother, cause she`s not born yet Laughing ). I hope we can turn narrators off, cause i`m sure it will be annoying to hear their cheesy comments all the time.

You can upgrade every weapon and deployables. Each has min 2 levels of upgrade. Some of it you must find in campaign mode some buy thru Progression Sphere. You can also unlock playbale characters and other stuff there.

I just don't get why the upper right hand corner is basically occupied by some text telling us what game mode we're in.  It could have been put to better use, like with - you guessed it - a radar.

I watched all those gameplay videos and the VS bobble nearly made me nauseous. The maps look pretty uninspired and boring compared to ones like Cayon 810 and Lost Coast. Grapple hook looks like a limp strand of spaghetti. The games will become stale fast as well, after watching that Akrid survival it just turned into wait for the Akrid to respawn and do the same exact thing over again. Graphics also look bad.

Yeah, it might be one of those things we can get used to and come to appreciate as being legitimate in its own right, with regards to their take on the grappling hook.  Keep in mind, also, that last I checked, they did not have anyone who was really skilled playing the game, so it wasn't the best showcase of the modes.  I actually think it could be really interesting, but LORD, I cannot get over their complete and utter WASTE of the upper right corner on the HUD.  If you can't ****ing remember what type of game you're in, just look ahead and you and see what's going on.  Seriously, Spark, tell me it's a placeholder and you'll have a radar ready when the game comes out.

Still undecided, almost leaning towards not getting it to be honest. These pictures LOOK okay, but something tells me the actual gameplay won't feel anything like LP as we know it. I need to get my hands on a demo, Capcom.

And there goes the one thing that could have ever stood a chance at getting me interested in this... thing.

Just like the SP, this is one very, very successful attempt at tearing out the heart of Lost Planet, and then hacking away at it with a rusty scalpel.

Bland, generic, half-baked, unappealing... are a few things that come to mind upon seeing the footage of the MP... Actually... I've already stated my opinion on this game in another thread, so I'm not going to bother posting what I think is wrong with this, most of what I said before applies to the MP side of Lost Planet too.

To put it short. This is not Lost Planet at all, and I won't be supporting it.

August 27th - Mark it on your calendar Lost Planet fans, as this is the date this once unique and fun series dies.

I think I have to agree with you. Hell, E.X. troopers looked more like a lost planet game than this.

Just by looking at Soul Sacrafice, you see just how much influence Inafune had in regards to gameplay mechanics in the LP franchise. I see now that them saying "Oh, the original LP team worked with Spark to get the core of the game" was just an attempt to get OG fans to support but as we now see that "cooperation" between the two teams didn't mean ****.

And sad thing about it, is watch how fluid Yaiba comes out because of Inafune's involvement even though he is working w/ the same American dev. If that comes out any type of decent it will almost be like a big "F you" to Capcom. I would love to hear Inafune's thoughts on LP3, smdh.

lol I called out that PR nonsense a long time ago when they first dragged out Oguro like it was supposed to make me feel insta-hyped.

As for Inafune's influence, I really hope that's the case, I'm still a fan of his and god knows he was the only one who gave a damn about the Blue Bomber, but due to his constant comparisons to the West it kinda has developed some doubts.

Lost Planet 3 - like many other outsourced projects - was Inafune's idea. You could say that it was THAT the "big F you to Capcom" except it not only screws over the company, but also the fans. Not to mention that, back in 2010, he used to blame the LP2 team for the game underperfoming, saying that if he had been more involved it would have turned out a success, even though his role on the project was the same as the first.

I don't know how much influence he really had on LP, but overall his time as gobal head of production at Capcom did more harm than good.
