It certainly seems like a patch was needed for some features. But I have no clue where they got the complaints for the features they did fix. Some of the weapons changes could be nice, if the old version was still there.
They should have just added a couple rocket launchers. Slower speed but they were armored and couldn't be shot. The normal rocket launchers should have been sped up slightly, but they could be shot. Seems a better fix then what they did.
Going from infinite ammo to only 15 shots is kind of good for the placements. But there is no way to detach the cannon or to reload it. Which makes the vs's with cannons, and turret placements with cannons less then half as effective as before. No person would repair those things now if they have the opportunity.
Not getting knocked off train is kind of nice. But it should have been a threat still. As it was before, if you got shot ever, you probably fell off the train. Added to the occaisional grapple fail and you could die off easily trying to get to the front of the train. Now if people are right, there is no threat whatsoever. Get hit by a rocket in the air and land safely on the train.
While the change for the Red-Eye part is a bit extreme, it's still better then the way it was. Almost always getting thrown off sometimes even if you were on the side closer to Red-Eye was just ridiculous. When it is an attack that requires great skill to dodge, when people are willing to stand and take the hit in places where they won't be killed by the fall, then there is something wrong with the attack.
I had tried holding the anchor on various surfaces there and it always jumps lately. I had tried jumping and it can be a pain to time it. I had rolled it a couple times. When the only things you can do are get to the correct side and stand there, or get in a vs seat, or get inside and in every case just take the hit, then it needed a fix of some sort.
In general most of the changes were not useful to Lost Planet as a game. They were only useful to people that aren't trying to roll or dodge any of the attacks. I would have rather capcom add an alternate play mode with the changes for those people. Don't call it simple mode, don't let them think you foolproofed the game just for them, but don't foolproof it for everyone.
