I agree with both of you, the only thing i would extend is the charactor customization as well as VS customization in addition to adding a few more online multiplayer modes and variations of campaign play.

I don't see how one could have fared well without using the 90 degree turn. Maybe they will use the other button for 90 degree turns; hold the button and press the direction you want to look at.

|
|
But that could mean 180 degree turns if you use the d pad o_0
Regardless, lp2 style co op must return.

Changing the button sceme at all is a mistake. especially left trigger zoom

why change something that is flawless? Lost Planet 2 was a great stepping stone to something better and they hit the nail on the head with the coop campaign and the charactor customization. the nest step is to continue the progress and add the ability to customize VS with a personal paintjob perhaps like the windows paint program.

I have thought about VS customisation before, but to be honest, it would make this a lot like Armoured core.
And besides , I thought the WHOLE of lp2's campaign was perfect. It just needed to be a bit longer.
The only things to are LP:EC multiplayer and a Survival mode.

90°'s were an integral part of the LP series. It's what makes it unique among the third person. That and hook shot, but if what HiPoL suggests about classic being a option then there shouldn't be any problems.
As a music major my only main beef with LP3 right now is how they diden't bring back Jamie Christopherson as the resident composer. I for one loved his counter melody's and re-occurring themes throughout the LP2 soundtrack. Why would you change the composer whom has been the feeling and atmospheric direction of the series since Colonies. I mean don't get me wrong, I believe Jack wall is just as competent a composer. It's just out of the two I believe this series is very motion picture driven especially for one that is so environment/mood based. I know it's all about the success of a series that brings composers there notability. Hippo hop house could have had the best soundtrack of the century but only to those who have played it, and out of these two why wouldn't you pick choose someone who has notable experience with not only RPG/open world exploration atmosphere but one who has been with the series all along. He has set the color for lost planet! Plus I believe this series is mainly symphonic based which Christopherson has done a great job with the orchestration. Brass when you need them and strings to lay the color and tone. That odd synth 80's style music for the training and occasional multi-player map was also a nice little nitch as well. It gave it a very unique feel. (All though advanced training I believe was a bad couple. Should have stuck with the synth/basic training feel. imho) I will also tell you that I haven't and don't play mass effect(s) but have listened to the soundtracks. Multiple times, which is why I am not worried (since the soundtrack has most likely been composed, orchestrated, and recorded already. Besides not like what I say is going to change anything.) I am just trying to make more aware of the importance and quality of the soundtrack. If not the heart DEFINITELY a main artery of a series. Anyone who says the soundtrack dosen't matter just try to watch a good movie with bad music and see how distracting it is. As Lawrence Morton said, "It dosen't have to be good to preform it's functional duties." Just be prepared for a different feel OTHER than just the game play. I can see it now Icelandic wastelands with a Christmas winter theme. z: Not comforting.

A Christmas theme would annoy the fans so much.
Maybe we will be able to replace the rig with a one horse open sleigh.
Back to the topic, I also think they should have kept the composer from LP2, as he did a sterling job of creating epic melodies, atmospheric backdrops, and some colourful overtures.

From what I understand you will be getting a taste of "Jim's personal taste in music." By what his radio plays. I've seen this idea done before. I'm sure being of western development they'll choose **** rock and other stations (example: GTA) to fit the trucker/rig/Discovery's Gold rush character motif. but what I've always loaned for is: how nice if the radio stations were preset within the default game music BUT ALSO gave you the option of searching your ps3 hdd for music. ;D god they need in game music support. That way I can pick my **** rock music over there **** rock music. haha For the radio in the rig atleast... I do expect a full orchestral LP3 soundtrack. And by customizable. Do they mean You equip Vol-canon or grand. launcher and are stuck with it till you make it back to base? Oh boy. And most have to think that LP2 had custom characters because you had other people playing along side you so instead of 4 people with the same faction but slightly different variations they left the option of letting you choose how you look. same with multi-player. But since I haven't heard or read anything on co-op this time around I believe they are going the same rout as LP where you play as the main character and to give it a gimmicky replay value you get a new skin to play in after the first play through. So I doubt they will go as far as to have you customize your rig. Too bad though a nice cliche hanging dice would be pretty lolz.

I think they said in the podcast that Jim is a country kind of guy.
