What they need to do is hire me for the development team, I probably know more about Lost Planet than anyone at Spark haha. No but in all seriousness, are any guys at Spark fans of the series and from there good at the games. I mean if you don't like a series and you're designing it all you'll do is screw up the entire thing, because you have no idea why people love it.

But capcom never listen to the fans :(
But alas, I shall reserve judgement until this game is released.
Then I will make my mind up about Spark Unlimited.

I think this is just to far out of left field to accurately gauge how the outcome will be, but based of the progression they plan for. The "Back to the roots" means old LP1 code revisited, with them paying closer attention to key problem areas that have been the major complaint from ratings for the past two games. That's just what it sounds like to me. I think HiPOL nailed it on the head. They are trying to open the overall player base and maybe even dumb it down in the process. This wouldn't be the first time and that seems to be the common trend of Capcom games that start out with a high learning curve. They CLEARLY are still trying to re-invent the controller mapping. Personally I don't understand how hard a custom controller map setting would be in a game with various controller layouts due to the variation of VS's and there functionality. But it would surly be a fix to all and any complaints about it and they would be done with it.

Most of you guys are only looking at one game they made quite a while ago and basing your entire opinion of them on that. Not exactly the best way to go about it.
One game? How about you try every game they've developed.
They were all turds, critically and financially.
That's my point exactly... Before I came here to post my disappointment, I went to their site, wiki and a few review sites to get an idea of the quality of their products, all the while trying to be optomistic, but they haven't had one decent game on their resume and their sales figures make you wonder how they remain in buisness. Their resume reads like a handheld nightmare. I don't hold high hopes for this game and completely expect the worst now.
How do you go from making 6 Call of Duty flops to LP3 and then change the classic control and feel (watched the gamespot interview and really bummed me out) The main character and vehicle remind me of ripped off ideas from Dead Space and Red Faction...WTF Mister average Joe, the hardest working UTILITY OPERATOR BAD A22 in the universe. Add to that the game is a prequel but is labeled as LP3 and you lose all confidence in this project and just feel sick. I'd have more faith if they decided to at least let the devs from LP2 have another chance at it. While it wasn't perfect it surely sounds like a better game than 3.
