It takes a month to certify (sign) a patch.... that's stupid...
why would Capcom say that is was going to be out at the end of July if it takes a month.

I know you guys are anxious for a new patch, however, at this time, there is no news on this front. It's been 5 days since Sven's post that it went to MS Cert, so it should only be a matter of time. Certs can take from a week to 2 weeks, or even longer, depending on issues. You think cert is easy? Try reading Jeff Minter's blog (Read the July entries), see and what a nightmare it has been for them on the development of Space Giraffe (which comes out this week).

i hear you.. being the LP junkies that we are, every day seems like a week, and every week a month...
Although... It kinda makes me wonder.. (being a bit of a cynic, when it comes to large companies).. what would stop Microsoft stalling from approval of the patch for LP (or any other direct competitor of Halo).. until Halo 3 is released. Halo being published Microsoft themselves.
I WOULD like to think that there is still some ethics involved in the video game industry.. but being as large as its become.. im SURE there must be some backdoor deals and agreements going on between certain companies.

Business is business.
While the tendency to be a cynic is there, I'd actually have doubts of something like that. While the business of gaming has gotten rather large, the gaming industry itself is still a rather small world. It's easy to imagine that someone playing "Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon" with gaming industry personel would be able to connect pretty much just about anyone with each other, most probably in less than six degrees, especially if you count people in the gaming media (blogs, magazines, etc.) as gaming industry. Point is, while not everyone is obviously not privy to all the secrets, things can be rather more transparent within the industry than people would like to have.
Besides, Halo is so big, it needs no help. :o
Finally, if you think EA and MS are a conspiracy, you should take a look at Nintendo. Nintendo itself owns something in the area of 60+% of their own software market. All the 3rd parties are just fighting for a small piece of the pie where Nintendo is concerned. :cool:

At this point I think Capcom has resigned itself to losing its current LP players and is focusing on the sequel.

Good point, but I always have this pre-conception of North American run companies, and thier business eithics.. I always think that it is Vastly diffrent than thier Japanese counterparts.
For Instance... I dont think Nintendo or Sony would have released thier hardware knowing how much of a problem it could/would be.. EVEN if they did.. I dont think they would of denied it for as long as MS did.
I think this mentality trancends beyond gaming to many other industries.. even the Automobile industry with GM, Chrys, Ford.

The one month was only a joke of another user and seeing how the PC patch worked out - well good things can take some time. And I still have no problems with LP, maybe I will take a break of it if Halo3 is out but I`m sure I will come back. Hopefully some new map packs will come out, Halo maps are boring compared to the ones of LP.:p
