In an interview I read, the creator said that this is the game he wanted from the star but was limited by technoogy. I vastly prefer the execution of LP2 but it's apparent that LP3 has taken ques from the first attempt (LP). I doubt that Spark will remove the concept of VSs- remember, the original LP team are still here. But you need to remember that this a prequel and I'm sure the usefulness of VSs hasn't been full explored in this point in time. But it is evident that the combat - though different which I appreciate is quiet western for lack of a better term.

As for Jim being American, I don't mind. The Japanese weren't the only ones on EDN-3 and I'm assumiing that NEVEC is a global force. Though we don't actually know his nationality. Wayne was hardly Japanese-looking.

Well NEVEC are in fact from venus.
But originally from earth.
Not knowing how long they were on venus, its impossible to know whether they slowly became their own ethnicity.

I'm REALLY interested in seeing how they're going to pull off multiplayer mode though. Will it still have co-op? Will Akrid Hunter and Egg Capture still be in the game? Or will pretty much everything be scrapped, and we'll just have to go through a completely new set-up? Are they going to keep the small frames of invicibility whenever you roll? Will the grapple cancel still be in the game? Can you still roll and shoot? Avoid manually reloading by reloading in mid-air instead? Shoot grenades and manual detonate them at will? Heck, will I even get the chance to pilot all of the Vital Suits I know and love from the two other Lost Planet games? I mean, this IS a prequel, meaning a lot of the "Hi-tech" VS' will be non-existant. This includes the plasma rifle, plasma canon, and even the plasma grenades. A lot of the weapons we use in the prior two games were developed to combat the Akrid many years AFTER the events of this game.

Definitely agree, I'm worried they'll go the root of COD games or Gears of War, with small, flat maps that are mainly close quaters. The slower paced, larger maps in LP are one the reasons I loved the game so much. I love how many different levels they have, and how you can survive falling for high heights (something I hope remains in 3). Though if the grapple is still in the game, I can only assume maps will still have various levels to them.

I'll definitely miss the plasma rifle if it's gone, I used that weapon more then any other in LP2.

As for Jim, he's fine to me. I mean, at least he doesn't look like the typical western hero, buzz cut and all. For me, he looks a lot like Ezio from Assassins Creed: Revelations.

I'm not happy about this sequel (which is a prequel, but it has a "3" in the title...ehrm, ok?) of one my favourite gaming series.

An open world like setting? Missions (a.k.a quests)? VS only in first person view, wtf? Only ONE VS (ok, they said you can upgrade that thing, but it looks UGLY and I want more than one VS) etc.

That doesn't sound like a LP game to me. More like an RPG. Call it "Lost Planet - The Beginning" but not LP3, dear devs..

I think you're assuming the "one VS" thing.

Is this star wars episode I all over again?  Lets hope this game doesn't put the nail in the coffin for this franchise.

I'm not sure why left trigger zooming is such a big deal. I doubt they'll have the 90 degree turning anymore, so grenades will probably be LB or RB. And it's always possible they'll have "classic" controls as an option.

In traditional LP, "grenade" is way more important than "zoom," and the inputs were mapped accordingly on the controller (with zoom being relegated to the dpad in the default configuration, where it arguably belonged because it was almost never used, even by snipers).  If they offer alternatives, than there's no issue.  I use 90 degree turns all the time - combined with a low sensitivity bounding box, it makes me roughly as competitive as a seasoned keyboard and mouse user.  It's one of the only shooters where a gamepad user can really give them a run for their money, specifically because of these options and other mechanics (like the dodging) that it makes available.

Of course, for all we know, they got rid of grenades and a ton of other stuff, and are focusing all of their effort on a single player story experience, with more shallow mechanics that refer back to Gears, Dead Space, or even Red Faction.  Kenji Oguro is still directing it, though, so maybe there is hope.

I agree, I'm easily one of the most avid sniper users in the first lost planet and I only use zoom on bigger maps or if i'm across one of the smaller maps and i see someone walking.

Also I swear to god if they screw up how the sniper works, I will kill them. That is the only weapon I care about.

Adventure time ppl.

Thank god capcom's releasing SOMETHING of interest. With MML3 down the drain, and MM10 busted. This is all they have left of interest to me.
