I think the problem is that it takes away from one of Lost Planet's charms or trademarks and just adds something in it's place that's been done to death by every other western shooter as a staple of the genre as of current.
But does it really take away the charm by moving the grenade button to a spot that could be just as accessible (this is assuming there still are grenades, and it's one of the bumpers)? I personally don't believe that just because LT zoom is "mainstream" in western games is big enough of a deal to take away what made the series unique. I don't know. I guess to me it's just a zoom. As we all know LP 1&2 had it, but it was rarely used. It looks like 3 will have a lot of tight corridor sections, so a larger focus on zoom makes sense to me. And we don't necessarily known if the zoom will force the player to slow down, maybe you can still run at the same speed like in the first two. Or if you guys are more upset about what the zoom may represent (a possible huge overhaul of the gameplay/control layout, and a game that may try to be like Gears of War), then I can get behind that. I'll certainly be upset if we can no longer jump/roll, and I'm guessing the roll will no longer be crouch+a, which I'll miss. Also, it's likely changing weapons will no longer be done with Y, given that in one of the pictures Jim is seen with two guns and a pistol on his side. Probably D-Pad weapon changing, but at least we'll probably be able to switch weapons and move at the same time. And hey maybe we can finally jump and grapple at the same time?

If they allow mid-air grappling then I will let it offset one or maybe even two core elements to the originals that they abandon

I'm hoping the LT Zoom is not indictive of this game being more FPS then TPS. Sounds like every other FPS using the LT to aim. I know its only a trailer but this Jim character seems kinda lame. Wheres all the Japanesse anime looking dudes. Well, I'm estatic that there is going to be another LP, lets hope they don't screw it up. IMO LP2 was a great game, not sure why everyone is bashing it, the critics ripped it but its one of my fave games.

This is definitely interesting.
I'm not really feeling the whole driving VS' in first person thing, but hey, it's worth a try at least, or possibly have an option to switch between 1st and 3rd person? I know a lot of other mech games have that option at least. Laughing
Second, the scripting still seems like a work in progress, reminds a lot of a cheesy trailer for LP2, where one of the guys saw the Gordiant and yelled out, "That's freakin' HUUUUUUUGE!" I just can't take the game too seriously with that kind of stuff...
That also leads to my third point: I'm soooo glad they decided to move out of that whole arcade vibe for campaign. It seemed fun at first, but it definitely distanced me from the over-all story, I just couldn't immerse myself as much as I really would have liked.
I'm REALLY interested in seeing how they're going to pull off multiplayer mode though. Will it still have co-op? Will Akrid Hunter and Egg Capture still be in the game? Or will pretty much everything be scrapped, and we'll just have to go through a completely new set-up? Are they going to keep the small frames of invicibility whenever you roll? Will the grapple cancel still be in the game? Can you still roll and shoot? Avoid manually reloading by reloading in mid-air instead? Shoot grenades and manual detonate them at will?
Heck, will I even get the chance to pilot all of the Vital Suits I know and love from the two other Lost Planet games? I mean, this IS a prequel, meaning a lot of the "Hi-tech" VS' will be non-existant. This includes the plasma rifle, plasma canon, and even the plasma grenades. A lot of the weapons we use in the prior two games were developed to combat the Akrid many years AFTER the events of this game.
Maybe it's just me being nostalgic, but after realizing that the series has been passed down to new hands, I'm a little uneasy about how this game is going to be recieved for many of the long-time fans of the series.
Edit: Wow, I've been gone for so long, I forgot that I need to change my sig, lol. I'm not a Mod anymore.

So wait, 2013 release. That means this had to of entered development nearly right after Lost Planet 2 released, wondered what led to such a quick decision to continue the franchise but give it to a new team. But also I'm curious, if you remember Arad Productions has been reported to be producing a Lost Planet film due out in 2013. Tried doing a search for information but everything I found is really dated. All databases still report it as a 2013 release though. Anyone know if this ever got canned or delayed or anything? Looking at how this lines up, could Capcom have some much bigger plans for the franchise?

To me, this dosent seem much like lost planet, and the developer has had a bad history...
I just hope that they do the series justice, and that coop returns

I screamed like a little girl when Google Chrome opened my last viewed page (Gameinformer) and I saw to the side LOST PLANET 3. I freaking screamed! But now I swear to mother effing God! That if they screw this up that even if they are the ones working Battlefront 3 I will hate them with so much freaking passion.
This is risky. Lost Planet 3 is risky in itself. I wanted it so much but the sales probably made Capcom switch Devs not only to keep it fresh to entice more sales. But for the love of all that is mighty if they remove core elements and if they screw this up... What made the last game fun though was the gameplay. it was so "Japanese". No-one can imitate that. The controls, the presentation, the weapons, the GAMEPLAY. Don't you DARE screw this up!
Lol, I was downstairs on my PS3 and Flashy211 (member on here as well) sent me a message on PSN saying, "have you seen the lost planet 3 trailer?". As soon as I read that I darted upstairs to my laptop and watched it. Too bad I went from REALLY excited to disappointed. It wasn't the same feeling I got when I first watched the Lost Planet 2 trailer.

The lost planet film started development after EC was released...
So either it was scrapped, or the dev is a retard as it had massive funding.

I thought the trailer had outstanding graphics, but who knows how that will translate to the gameplay. Lost Planet is all about the Muliplayer, so a change was needed from LP2, since it was a disappointment. LP1 had a cult following for a reason, so hopefully they have listened to the community and will stay more true to the orignial than the sequel. I think bringing people over from Capcom who worked on the original game should relax all these people who are worried about this new studio producing the game. I look forward to a mutiplayer trailer and hopefully they might have a beta to get some feedback and work out bugs.
