There will always be 2 groups now. People who started adventure with LP1 and second group who started with LP2...
I started the adventure with LP: Extreme Condition, I then purchased Colonies, and Lost planet 2 when it arrived. I can clearly see the evolution of the game through each version. Lost Planet Extreme Condition was never my favorite. Simply because its too underdeveloped comparitively speaking to Lost Planet 2. I feel like Capcom is looking to move forward and take the experience up a notch rather than revert back to when LP was less than unpopular.
I do agree however that they should maintain some of the components from the origonal that make the game so unique. Components that the games feel relies on, such as timing.
What about the weapon balance in LP2? Granted, you can play it the old way in player matches, but it's nearly impossible to get that set up. The balance in LP2 is so bizarre that I'm probably the only player who uses the default heavy weapon. The entire field is dominated by handcannons (for which the shells have been sped up to such a degree that it's like a sniper rifle) or the plasma cannon SP. I don't know why I continue to use the normal rocket launcher. Mostly for posterity, I guess, and that it comes with a decent quantity of ammo, even though it's pretty bad.
@SDF ... I know the feeling. I used to use the default Rocket Launcher until they patched it... the patch nerfed the splash-damage, so the only way to get a One-Hit Kill is to hit someone dead-on with it. Might as well just use the Handcannon if that's the case. These days, I prefer the Rocket Launcher SP since it's a glorified personal howitzer. I hate having to stray from my favorite heavy weapon on account of that patch. :P
Anyhow, TRisk, yeah Mass Effect just always referred to your character as just "Shepard" or "Commander", etc. Same principle... you wouldn't have to address each character as a "him/her", etc. nor would you limit the player-base to picking between male/female... as much as folks like the Left 4 Dead series, there's a lot of us that hate getting stuck playing Rochelle or Zoe.
Anyhow, NEVEC has been the main culprit behind the two games' "evil" twice now. And each time they've suffered a catastrophic defeat (Wayne completely decimating the Frontier Project, and Task Force 1st Descent crashing their prized laser cannon/asteroid base into the damn planet) ... am I seriously the only one bored with fighting them? The games' main appeal to most people has always been the prospect of taking on giant monsters. Why not focus on that more if they make an LP3?
We'll have to agree to disagree about LP1's storyline, since neither one of us are going to change the other's viewpoint on it.
I can definitely get behind the notion of adding some more recovery animation options, but am not so sure the anchor should be changed much. I remember one reviewer calling for the ability to fire the anchor while jumping or falling back in the day, and it's an interesting idea, but I think it would make it too easy to bail the careless player out of a bad situation that he got himself into. The whole awesome point of the anchor is that it's a great device for traveling, but it's not able to offer people an immediate escape since it has to be fired while grounded, and the animation can be canceled easily by just a few bullets. To make it more Bionic Commando-esque... I dunno. Could be good, could be bad.
So Blastaar, it's still pretty easy to get full ranked lobbies on Live?
CAPCOM couldn`t give us Wayne in campaign so they gave us over 100 other characters to replace this one. I hope after situation with LP2 Lee byung Hun & BH Entertainment will find agreement with CAPCOM and we`ll see Wayne, his father, Luka , Yuri, and all other well known characters in LP3. Player needs a character to identify with. That`s the main problem in LP2, permanent change or total absence of main character. Would GOW still be GOW without Marcus and Dominic ? Or Tomb Raider without Lara Croft ?
I would also vote for smooth and longer missions like in LP1, without summary every 2 minutes, cause it ruins atmosphere.
Enviroment isn`t so important in my opinion untill there will be no grass on snow like on new Piratess Fortress map. I have no idea why they didn`t make this map with green grass and trees. I think it wolud be a blast.
I would also like devs to create maps where natural barriers don`t let us go further. Not like we see open sea and some invisible wall stops us.
Enemies spawning from nowhere just behind us, or enemies our friends see and shot but we can`t cause we don`t see them on display and ask them : "who are you shoting at dude ???" is ridiculous, especially when you play coop. And please change the guy who is up to AI.
Now few words about multiplayer. My general comment for LP2 multiplayer is : get quick some overpowered weapon or VS or die. Classes are wrong. MG SP is def long range weapon. Energy gun doesn`t fit any class . I can count problems with weapons endless. Many of them are just overpowered. It kills skills.
Grenades physics are broken. It should f.e. fall down but almost sticks to the edge. It also doesn`t bound of the walls like it should. Grenades often kill a person who throws it when explodes far away from him.
Data post physics are broken. It can`t work as a shield. Opening with teammates is unsynchronized.
Maps have very cheap design and looks like done in a hurry. Where are ventilations tunnels or pipes perfect for sneaking on enemy side. Where are shelves you need perfect and quick aiming with anchor to get on it. Or shortcuts accesible only with anchor (Battle field map). In LP1 mastering anchor you had great advantage over enemies. In LP2 it means almost nothing considering that it has shorter range. When you pick up weapon you must hold the Y button, what takes more time than in LP1. Sometimes 1 sec means life or death, it also slows down the action. There were places especially designed for hiding in LP1 where it was very hard to get (usually with anchor only) or behind searchlight so nobody could see you due to very bright light (Dark Town, Training Facility). Or smoke or fog making fight diverse. You won`t find such places in LP2.
Now about VSs. I think most people who cry that there should be more VSs are kids who can`t stand fair fight face to face. Unfortunatelly in LP2 if you don`t use VS (and others do) you won`t stay alive for long. Since you can scope in it, you can repair it, it doesn`t take so much energy, people can`t find Energy Gun if they won`t give up Machine Gun, won`t find enegry grenade if they won`t give up disc grenade, you can use Injection Gun II to use it for the whole match with every weapon - it`s absolutelly overpowered and unfair when you run in VS vs human character. I remember how it was on LPC when usually new players used VSs and it was nothing special for rest of players. Often it was stealed and parked on our spawn so they couldn`t use it to force human character fight. Or when somebody was going wild in VS we just used energy gun or grenade to kick him out and continue fight on foot.
Taking away some of most beloved match types is something very hard to understand. I mean countergrab, Akrid Hunter, Egg Bandit. Not much to say about it. Just give it back to us. Just like LP1 match making. 3 lobbies (ranked, player, faction) are good idea when you have tousends of players, not hundreds or less.
And please make dedicated servers. None good game these days can work without it.
Leaderboards make people to stop playing this game when they get good score. Who`s idea was it ????
Final conclusion (finally ) is that it fells like somebody has put alot attention, time and heart for balancing weapons, maps and battlefield generally in LP1/LPC and somebody didn`t do it in LP2. As many people before me mentioned here - don`t fix something what is not broken (LP1/LPC ->LP2). I understand that probably CAPCOM was thinking : "We should make new game or they(us) will blame us for making a copy , not new game". As we all know it didn`t work.
That`s why i love LP1/LPC (and only like LP2) and want LP3 to be in this style. I pointed LP2 issues i`d like not to be copied in LP3. And pointed LP1/LPC advantages i`d like to find in LP3.
I think the main character in campaign should be customizable to the players preference. Th player can select between male and female, edit their characters face, edit their characters body, and choose the armor they want to put on him/her. There would then be a character for multiplayer where they could do the same thing only with more freedom. After the player completes the campaign they can use their multiplayer character in campaign.
I think that there should also be new modes too. Maybe a Horde/Firefight mode. Akrid Hunter needs to come back and more objective modes in multiplayer other than raise the data post.
Abilties should be removed from the game, instead adding more weapons to compensate. There should be rifles (not sniper rifles), a handheld grenade launcher, and more grenades.
This is all I can come up with right now. I hope there is a Lost Planet 3 in the near future.

Akrid Hunter, does need to make a retun. How ever, I disagree with the abilities. I think a big factor in everything would be maybe some more in depth story, I mean it's obvious why the Rounders, and Waysiders were setup as per NEVEC but they never ran any further with any of those two factions. And my belief is as well, that F.F should not even be a faction and they should be sorted into the appropriate factions accordingly. I mean take a glance at Faction matches, great concept. But of course un balanced as all hell with everyone going F.F. Now speaking of Horde mode, they technically have it... It's called Rush Arena. How ever, though I feel they should have included the smaller Cat-G fights. The one in 1-1 I believe it is. As well as the worms you fight in Episode 6.
Seeing the original cast return would be great, I really wanted to see what Wayne and the crew were up to during Lost Planet 2. As there is no direct, or even any evidence to say when Lost Planet 2 took place other than after the first game with them all saying they fought NEVEC basically off the planet.
So anyways, my list is as follows...
1. More Cat-G Akrids 2. More Akrids less "Soldiers" 3. More Vital Suits 4. More Weapons that actually do something (i.e Weapons that don't do much (Firecracker etc.)) 5. In Depth story to what happend to NEVEC. 6. Where's Wayne and the crew? 7. More abilities. 8. More Multiplayer support, and patching. 9. More DLC.
I'm pretty sure that just covers everything, of what I would like to see. I know there's the argument out there that people are saying they made the game to much like Monster Hunter. But hey, I've played the first Lost Planet, and Lost Planet 2 (Not Extreme Condition or Colonies), and I have to say I really enjoyed the Lost Planet 2 concept, even though I still liked the first one.
I just wish Capcom wouldn't use the excuse of MT FRAMEWORK issues for the updates.
EDIT:
I also found a funny post on another forum. saying this is what we can expect from LP3

First Lost Planet was Extreme Condition, Lost Planet 1.5 was Extreme Condition Colonies Edition. So what Lost Planet are you talking about Sergeant ?
Wow, I think I'm going to disagree with a LOT here…
@Feral Manx: I disagree, I'm not bored fighting them because they are the only ones capable of giving the players decent Vital Suit boss fights, which is a change of pace from Akrid warfare or fighting other Snow Pirates. Basil was cool to fight in her custom GTF-11 VS though.
I guess I'm not seeing things like most people. To me the main appeal was a different take on the 3rd Person Shooter genre and shooters in general which it still does. Shooters are usually the domain of Western companies, Capcom instead has an Eastern way of creating one and it's quite unusual.
Personal Opinion, but I don't need to play as Wayne again to enjoy this game, having a new set of protagonists each time not set in any particular order or timeline while keeping the core parts of the game being snow somewhere, EDN III, T-ENG, Vital Suits, Akrid, Pirates, and NEVEC will do it just for me.
@HiPOL: Maybe they shouldn't model Wayne after Lee, inspired by his facial features sure but not take after him if it's going to be a problem with him and Wayne must return. It look like Capcom did well when they created that Waysider B I believe it is. Lost Planet was only on it's first game, so it's still fairly early in its series to try a new character anyway.
I pretty much just disagree with you a whole lot.
Each chapter could have had 2 checkpoints in my opinion. One being halfway through the Chapter and the other being a checkpoint at each boss. However, this is not entirely a good idea. You can really run out of BP fast when in a 4 man team if you're not paying attention and start from square one again, LP2's Area to Area checkpoint system is great for coop.
Machine Gun SP is not a long range weapon, it's a Mid-Long range weapon in the Standard Weapon series. It doesn't even have a scope and it still gets slaughtered by Long Range weapons and the other two MG weapons depending on the situations. Heaven help you if you're try to hit stun lock someone with too. The thing is pretty much Lost Planet's BR or DMR. Energy Gun and Energy Gun SP are standard weapon Anti VS weapons and they do their job quite effectively in that regard.
I don't understand what you mean by grenade physics, if anything that's more of an issue of overall collision physics, like the lack of an animation for rolling off a platform. However about the self detonate glitches, that can be and is a problem. Correct me if I'm wrong though, but couldn't you use the Data Post as a shield in Lost Planet 1?
The only thing about the maps that look like they were made in a hurry was the fact a few of them take after sections of the Campaign. You're invulnerable during the pick up animation and even so, if you crouch as you pick up a weapon, you pick it up much faster anyway. Due remember we probably don't see those kinds of places to "hide" since we no longer have DLC support. More than likely we were to get all the LP1 related maps with new maps as well.
I didn't ask for more VS because I can't fight face to face. I wanted more because I liked giant robots since I was a kid and still do. The designs of the Lost Planet Vital Suits are interesting to me from a design point and I wanted to know what more Capcom could do with them.
You forgot to mention Energy Gun SP, Shotgun II and any of the Heavy Weapons. If people don't want to choose the Anti-Vs weapons provided then it's their loss. Being powered up in a VS with Injection Gun I isn't that much better, since you're able to kill stuff so much faster with conventional weapons and nigh impossible to destroy since it can also boost defense. There's also Regen grenades that heal VS and Battle Armor relatively fast.
I use Energy Grenades, so I still manage the whole kill that person and place their VS on our side in LP2. Even so, apparently a few Shuriken Grenades and VS go down relatively fast for some unknown reason. Balloon grenades do the trick too.
Injection Gun II isn't all that bad, it's just that the T-Eng lock should not last as long as it does. That in my opinion could use a nerf. One minute like Injection Gun I's effects do, maybe two but it really does last a long time. It doesn't help that a good majority of T-ENG related weapons are quite powerful. Though I'm surprised Shotgun II isn't a T-ENG related weapon.
Don't we have counter grab and Egg Bandit as sub categories to Post Grab and Akrid Egg Battle? Again, Akrid Hunter could have been a fixed issue if we had the DLC support.
@Daniel: Eh, Rocket Launcher SP is a grenade Launcher, well minus the Grenade Launcher Crosshair I wished Capcom patched in.
I personally never like abilities, but I don't think they should disappear. We can remove them in multiplayer matches anyway. A few in particular such as the ability that removes T-ENG drain I really thought was a bad idea.
Support NEVEC in MVC3!Click Here! [Currently Playing: BFBC2, LP2, MHTri] The Rebellion Army owns you now... My MegaMan preference for MVC3 would had been Starforce, but yeah sure, I'll jump on this bandwagon, if X does indeed get in as DLC, there better be gamers playing as him or else this would had been a waste of time and missed opportunity for another Capcom Character...
@ TRisk - i didn`t mention many things. Not cause i forgot but cause my post is to long already. I know how hard is to get through overloaded messages . That`s why i only touched a surface and pointed most important things. Your response didn`t change my opinion. I still sustain it in every point. A fact that you ask about data post in LP1/LPC shows that you probably didn`t play it as much as some of us do (heavy weapon shot or grenade explosion at data post always hurts players activating it in LP1/LPC). Of course i`m not going to make you think like i do. Previous post is my short summary after over 4 years spent with my friends on E.D.N. III . We can argue about details, names or things we like or fell in our own way, different way. But there is no point in it. Everybody has right to his own opinion and this is the place to share it.
So i do :). And hope somebody will read it designing LP3.
I thought there was two seperate editions, from what I remember, it just Lost Planet... Not Extreme Condition so I was under the impression it came out later. I see I was incorrect. So revoke that... Only colonies.
