They listen to posters on this forum, and look at where the game has gotten us. They tried to give us too many options and in essence, created a imbalance with the weapons and grenades. The maps aren't great, with not enough weapons to share amongst players. It just makes maps more imbalanced, coupled that with how players play with the imbalance of the game (shuriken with head start disc, is one I will name that is overused and imbalanced).
I'm asking, please tell me which weapons/grenades are imbalanced and how?
My guess is one of the grenades he's so upset over are the Shuriken since he mentions them, not to be a smart ass, or anything.
Thing is, with head start, you have to use a slot for it. That means you don't get Defense 2, or Survivor. You are stuck with one slot abilities.
Shuriken aren't imbalanced. Yeah they can kill you in one hit, but so can a sniper rifle. So can a rocket. So can most any other grenade. A lot can kill you in one hit. If it doesn't kill in one hit, they might have a defense 1 or 2 up. Lord knows I've survived plenty of shotgun blasts, and more than a handful of sniper attacks with defense 1 on.
Sure Shuriken can fly across most levels, and hit like a sniper rifle, and even go around corners, or make sharp turns via bouncing, but good luck throwing them over anything shoulder height. That's a universal problem with disc based grenades, but they make up for their overly linear paths with range.
I think a problem with people complaining is that sometimes, not all the time, they're just not aware of the true potentials of many things. I.E. Having Head Start Disc which takes out a lot of powerful 2 slot abilities like Defense 2.
But lets geton topic here.
Map Pack 2 DLC? I'm not paying 5 dollars for it alone. I have more pressing concerns I'd rather pay for like female parts. Yes, I'd rather have more female heads, and outfits, and dare I say costumes like Chun-li, and Cammy (the heads are almost made considering the default crpetbagger femme head having the ox horns, and the braids, and a chunk of their outfits being nearly made as is.) than maps, or much anything else really since I, and my friend feel especially burned over the fact that the Femme Fatales got so little, and blasted near nothing compared to the guys.
I am still UBER grateful that I even have the option to be a femme fatale in a genre of gaming that's virtually devoid of women as playable persons, mind you, and that in itself was a gigantic selling point.
Still, lets be honest with ourselves here, I'd honestly expect DLC with female parts to be free unless they far and away exceede the parts males get, or it comes with something else worth paying for ontop of it. This isn't a notion of "Women are better, they should get free stuff!" mind you, but rather the simple notion that we shouldn't have to pay for what we should've gotten to begin with!!! Honestly, it would be completely wrong to expect people to pay for 2 costumes, and maybe 2-5 other outfits considering that would STILL pale compared to the rich diversity of the male parts, nevermind the fact that they get voices (despite there being women voices in episode 2!) on top of that.
Honestly, I really hope that if the femmes get more parts and I really hope when they do so some people don't feel short changed, and that it's not just to squeeze money out of us but genuinely give us something worth paying for. The female gamers have gotten the short end of the stick for a while, in a lot of genres, especially shooters, so break the cycle, and be good to aspiring gamer girls, Capcom?
... Sorry to edit in a bit of a rant... anyhow...
It sounds interesting to be sure, the maps described, but more maps which, as many have pointed out before, may rarely ever be used due to the fact that if not everyone in the up to 16 players has the map, it'll default. That is a valid concern, IMO.
Maybe if it came with a compatibility patch like Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 with Juggernaught, or SvsR 2009 having patches to allow you to face DLC wrestlers but not select them, or something like that, it'll be alright.
...
.... ....
Did I really just suggest a real fix? A patch that gives the data for a level, but not the ability to select it so people can buy the maps, and use them without fear, and STILL make people buy the pack at the same time? Sure ANYONE can play the map, but not just anyone can select it.
If people who play the map via someone else like the map, they'll actually buy it! Or sponge completely off others... but in the end the map access patch will be more of a demo for anyone that doesn't have it.
