Music appreciation day? I've got some beats for you ;)
And if you're somehow frightened of 'oldies' as vulgar parlance puts it or the stigma of listening to something that existed before you were born, here's something contemporary :p
I listen to alot of old motown, soul, funk, etc..along with my main love Hip hop & Reggae. .. But I also love alot of classic rock (esp Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and Supertramp)
im a big fan of stuff like Otis Redding, Al Green, Stevie Wonder, Earth Wind & Fire..
for Hip hop, my favs are artists like Dilated Peoples, Strong Arm Steady, Talib Kweli, Outkast, UGK,.. and im also into Turntablism.
And, yes, no country. I just hate the sound of it. It's probably the way they sing and the instruments they use (which tend to always sound the same).
But, hehe, your taste in music seems pretty old-fasioned for your age. You must just have an old soul or something.
Don't worry about it, I used to not like a lot of music when I was in junior high and thought 'oldies' were boring by default and country was all the same. Used to also be into Gorillaz, Rage Against The Machine, and all that late 90's alt-rock radio stuff. 'Old-fashioned' (does classical count too?)? Well, considering the current trends have been digging up pre-80s couture and culture, maybe you're being 'old-fashioned'? :p

... oh and Bob Marley is the greatest ever. :D
Now thats what I'm talkin aboot....no seriously those are some great picks especially Pink Floyd, number 1 all time favorite and I doubt anything will ever change that.
I like mostly rock from the very old to some modern. I have a huge collection of classic rock and 90's rock(the beginning of the modern rock era/grunge). I would have to agree with all of you on the no country policy aside from some(very few) of the real old country/rock stuff.
Here is my favorite as far as newer stuff goes. I showed Proto and he seems to like it. This is probably a very close tie with Pink Floyd for me. There name is Dredg.
woot! Got everybody talk'n again. Now I just gotta figure out what kind of stunt I'm gonna have to pull to do it again when everybody decides they're too lazy to stop by the forums to make a post. j/k :D
Does anyone like Queens of the Stone Age? Or the Pillows? Or Gorillaz? Those are probably my favorites. Oh, and nothing like some good ol' Robotboot too mix it up :D
Not really familiar with the first one. The Pillows, however, I do like. FLCL (Fooly Cooly/ Furi Kuri) introduced them to me and got me to try their other songs. Nice style. And you know I love Gorillaz. I just hung a poster on my wall of them framed and everything.
May not be signed, but they deserve it. Something actually got me heavily into The Red Hot Chilli Peppers, though. I think it was after playing the song 'Suck My Kiss' on Guitar Hero III. Rage Against the machine, I wasn't too familiar with except for their song, 'Killing In The Name Of' (which I did know about before Guitar Hero II  ). Every song I've heard from them so far has been awesome. They seem to have a political message, but that's not what interests me. Just the way that guy sings and Tom Morello's weird guitar. lol.
Here's a bit of japanese music that I seem to like.
Yep, I'd have to say B'z is the freak'n shiznit.
