if there was a kick and ban system then it would have to be in the lobby only. kick and ban in game would just be unfair because people would kick people on the other team to win or just kick their allies because they are too good. and at the end of a match if you played someone that just kept killing you over and over someone might kick them too. kick and ban seems nice sometimes but theres no doubt out there people will abuse it.

I don't like 2 because if there is that kind of damage then there should be a way to regain health, and apparently people are against that. I am fine with having certain aspects to be unlike reality, after all we don't play games to replicate reality.

1. As opposed to what, having a cheater rack up mega scores at your teams expense until everyone puts the controller down hoping he will just go to another match? Funny, I've heard that argument over and over again, however have yet to hear a rational explanation why it would be unfair. I've never been a fan of arbitrary kicking, that's what private slots are for... however being subject to cheating without recourse is in my opinion more abusive than what you are suggesting. I have no less than a dozen XBLF's abandon LP over this issue, specifically how easy it is to cheat.


2. Perhaps you don't play games to replicate reality, but at least giving the option of realistic mode would add a very interesting wrinkle to the game, ex. finding more unique ways of getting out of corners if you know the 10 story fall in back of you is going to end things quickly. If anything I think it wil add a little more strategy to the game. I know I play the game differently since I know I can just jump off the back of a structure and be fine. Having that limitation will make people think twice about the old grapple, fire and fall trick. Thinking exit strategy will become more a part of play.

2. Personally, I think realism should be for sports and world war games. So, you want damage from jumping from high places, what is your resolution for avoiding damage then? I'd like to use the grapling hook in mid-air, but apparently they only want to do that for Bionic Commando.


Funny you mention 8-bit games, rememeber in Contra when you jump off from high places, land and don't take damage, but touching an enemy will hurt you? It seems the opposite is what's happening now. I am fine with that, touching something shouldn't automatically hurt you (unless there are spikes, etc). As for no damage upon landing, I'll just think the suits they are wearing provide a safe landing.

You've both made your points, and I've understand where you're coming from. Don't turn this into a flame war over features we haven't even discussed yet. That is your warning.

We can agree on that, kick/ban in game can't be good in any scenario I can think of. Also, being able to kick without playing is also a bad idea since it really does not allow opportunity for creation of strong game membership. I'm sure a balance can be struck without going overboard either way.


Contra, thats going back a bit. I know what youre talking about, I also remember the world famous Konami Command up,up,down,down,left,right,left,right,B,A... HAHAHA

im all for a kick and ban system in the non ranked player matches but in the ranked matches im sure people will use it as a way to boost.

I think we can all agree that the lobby system needs some major improvements to what we saw in the original game. I don't think the host should have the power to kick and ban whoever they want, instead, LP2 should rely heavily on a voting system.  


A voting system could be used for many things, such as:


1. Kicking people from the lobby


2. voting for a rematch so people don't have to go all the way back to the menu to search for a game


3. map selection

Aaargh...kicking or banning players is a tricky issue.  I think maybe Far Cry 2 has had one of the best systems (if you don't count the idiotic move of allowing the host to kick/ban anybody, from either team at any point in the game):  If a player killed a teammate, that player that was team killed has the option to call for a vote to ban the player that killed them.  It was messy in that there was a huge message plastered on the screen for way too long and it was too easy to hit the wrong button, but I think the theory was good.


But, that said, Lost Planet was nothing like your standard first-person shooter.  How easy it was to throw a stupid grenade and kill half your team was a lot of fun!  (I'm looking at you SAIYANIAM...remember that failed Lost Technology ambush?  Classic!)


Actually, I think I'd rather there not be any kicking/banning to avoid stacking teams and having exclusive rooms.  At least, not in Ranked anyway.

Children should be seen and not heard.

Those choppers in the trailer... Do you think that LP2 will let the player use airborne vehicles?


There is an airship in Warhawk (PS3) that would fit nicely into LP. It's slow moving but has pretty heavy firepower and can carry multiple people.
