Honestly, if you're into PC gaming you need to get used to having to deal with "cut offs." What will you do when game developers start to switch over to making use of 64 bit binaries exclusively? When shader model 3.0 becomes a requirement for everything? When SSE9000+ is the hot new thing on the block that everyone is using?
PCs are not consoles, they never have been and they never will be. What did I do when I found out my old GeForce3 couldn't run Battlefield2 because it didn't have pixel shader 1.4 capabilities? I swore a couple times and played BF1942 with the desert combat mod. Thank you for being the voice of reason. There has to be a limit on what hardware is supported at some point.
Lost Planet requires SSE2, end of story. Capcom isn't obligated to explain why to you (I swear the sense of entitlement some people have is disgusting). To assume that it would be finicially viable for Capcom to produce a non-SSE2 version when you have neither the requisite programming nor market knowledge to make such an assmption is idiotic.
Upgrade your PC, get an XBox, or do not buy the game; simple as that.

Amen. We are limited by our hardware which is why we upgrade. If i was happy with 480X i would buy a broke *** p4. And well with your reasoning since pc are dynamic i should be able to run this on the p1 90mhz i have in my garage. Its a pc why cant it run it? Istill love the original xwing games so i have it on another pc i cant install it on any rig later than 4 years ago it auto installs dx 3.1. Developers want same as gamers want to see the best they can do.
Dont push your incapacities onto us

The demo never stated it was required to have SSE2 installed til a Developer posted it on the forums (I believe)
So lets just hope that they will post that on the box because if they mention a CPU that doesnt and it wont; that would be poor marketing in my book

ps and also shingo_y go surrender some more. Not only is your military a bunch of pussies so is your machine.
Q. Why is the U.S. Navy building a fleet of glass bottom boats? A. So they can steer around the French Navy.
Q. What's the difference between Frenchmen and toast?
A. You can make soldiers out of toast.

Hi,
Thats because they obviously can´t program properly... This game should run nicely on a 2 GHz PC with a medium range graphics card... but NO...
and they forgot SSE2 support...
Ignore them... they ignore you... skip this junk of a game and buy something that works instead.
Its CAPCOMs loss... as they cant make any profit on NON-sellable games.
Best regards pgtest70

Just a side note, 84% of people on the Steam hardware survey (which is a pretty good cross section of our target PC market) have a CPU that can run SSE2. http://www.steampowered.com/status/survey.html On the finished box, there will be a min spec clarification, not that says SSE2 (because the man on the street doesn't know whether his CPU supports that instruction set or not), but will specify on the AMD side that an Athlon 64 3500 or better will be required (which does support SSE2). It may run acceptably on a lower clocked Athlon 64 as well, but we weren't able to confirm it within our test labs so we've gone with a spec that we were able to test and have confidence in. We will be clear with what's required and I apologize for any misunderstandings about the demo requirements.

Just out of curiousity, you do know the platform from which this game was ported and the engine created for, has a 3 core CPU with each core running at 3.2Ghz that can operate on 6 threads at a time, right? And you're suggesting that a single core, non-hyper threaded, 2Ghz CPU is going to get the job done to a similar degree of performance? Again, I'm frankly amazed at how low the team did ultimately get the supported specs from the place we originally started the PC project.

Hi,
I have an Athlon XP 2800+ with 2GB RAM and a Geforce 6800GT. The Lost Planet Demo is the first game that does not run on my system. Not because my system is missing computational power, just one (for my oppinion not necessary) feature.
I can play Jade Empire, Dark Messiah of Might and Magic and C&C3 with max Details and a 1280x1024 resolution. So my system is definitly not outdated.
To the Developer of Lost Planet PC Version: Even if you do not intend to release a demo for non-intel-Customers, please release the Game for player without a SSE2 CPU. I really want to buy and play the game and do not have the money to buy a new 1200 € PC.
Best wishes SwarmfleetTitan

While it truly sucks hard that this demo/upcoming game doesn't work on non-SSE2 processors , I have to agree. Eventually, it's just time to upgrade.
