Pablo I too felt your pain but for some reason i felt you were getting closer and closer to getting the game to run.  I got it to run and man the game looks awesome.  Anyways to get it to work, you have to make your hidden folders viewable in Vista.

To View Hidden folders just follow these steps:

1. Click the round blue Start thing in the left corner
2. Click Control Panel
3. Click Folder Options
4. Click the View tab
5. Click Show hidden files and folders
6. If you want to see system files as well, unclick Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)

Now you will be able to see
C:\Users\Pablo\AppData\Local\capcom\lostplanetTria l\

Once in there put the custom config.ini in the "lostplanetTrial" folder

Heres my config.ini, the resolution I have it at is 1280x1024 since it is my LCD's native resolution.  In another post another member posted to have FullScreen=OFF  and it worked.  With all this info you and everyone getting the "Fatal Error 1280x720 can't display" should have their problem solved.

Thanks to everyone who tried to help me. Cesar, your post was just EXCELLENT. I needed to make hidden folders viewable. I was confused becuase a similar path was viewabble C:\Users\Pablo\Application Data but has nothing to do with it.

At lease it was not SO stupid (just a bit)  the question I made about the paths :).

THANK YOU AGAIN CESAR and everyone who have this problem the solution was writen  :)

Hi, Ive been following  this thread  http://www.capcom.com/BBS/showthread.php?t=14085  in order to run the game in my LCD monitor  1280*1024 Native Resolution without success (I got invalid display mode 1280*720 Fatal Error).

I have Windows Vista and 8800 GTS.

The first issue I encountered was that the App Data folder was empty - I thougt that despite not generating the config.ini file, other files would be there(C:\Users\"Myusername"\Application Data\) ,  so I manually created the rest of the folders (C:\Users\"Myusername"\Application Data\Local\capcom\lostplanetTrial) and made a config.ini file with the info in the mentioned post.

Despite doing that, I still have the invalid display mode 1280*720 Fatal Error. What could I be doing wrong?  The Application does not seem to read the file

Thanks in advance and best regards.

:(  - hello everybody. i went thru many advices, but somehow the game wont work with my native resolution /1680x1050/.
1. i've changed the resolution in the ini file, set Fullscreen to OFF.
2. If the games starts it runs windowed in a resolution of 1536x864.
3. the i press Alt+Enter and the game switches into fullscreen of 1360x760 /which is the max resolution also in the Graphics setting screen./
The game never crashes, but i dont get my native resolution working. I also tried to set the ini file as read only, but it has absolutely no influence.

Does anybody have an idea, what could be the solution?
I am running on C2D 2.8ghz, Vista Ultimate 32bit, 8800 GTS, 158.43 Drivers, DX10.
