You can forget that LP3 will be a game like LP1, LPC or LP2. I find LP1/LPC as best game ever. I agree with LP2 low score. This game is unblanced, overloaded, bugged, unfinished and has tons of design errors. It has cool customization - that`s a fact, but who cares about customization when you get frustrated with gameplay and bad design ? Hundreds of emotes ? Who cares ? I think there are more important things a shooter game needs instead of tons of customizaion and emotes...
Nobody will hear you voice about LP3 cause they have made design decisions long, long ago. I`ve checked it personally at SPARK, trying to let them know about this community and our feedback.
I don`t think they focus on singleplayer only. They just didn`t show multiplayer yet. Personally i think it`s a good move not to show everything (or more than game includes) like they did with LP2. No idea what this game is going to be like... Just hope it won`t be Gears of War placed in snow... They changed almost everything that was essential for this game, so i prefer to stop crying about LP roots (cause it`s pointless) and try to enjoy new game : Lost Planet 3.
Oh, and i would pay full game price (60$ right ? ) for few new maps for Colonies... And i`m sure more people would do either....
Nothing wrong with discussing your views and opinions with fellow comrades about a franchise we all enjoy. And I was cool with the hundreds of unlockable emotes. You know you could use the taunt to cancel reload animations right?

Lost Planet 3, whats that?
Seriously though, I want to hear/see some updated information on LP3 before completly dismissing it. (though I have reservations that Spark is going to screw this up)
On a positive note. Lost Planet EX Troopers is supposed to be released in November in Japan, hope we see it here in the states.
Ah! My reason for purchasing a 3DS! Besides Kid Icarus.

Could you specify what you find to be unbalanced/overloaded(?)/bugged? I can agree that there were some ****ups (particularly less online modes and ranked being stuck on Team/Elimination/DPB) but I'm curious about the rest.
We`ve been disscusing it here for months. Check old threads you`ll find everything. No point to start negative posting again. LP2 case is closed by CAPCOM long ago.
Feel free to do so for the sake of understanding.

Sorry for bump, just need to get this off my chest. Actually, to save making some ban-worthy rant, I'll use one word as a summary of my opinion on this... and that is Disgust. And some lines. Lost Planet was one of the most fun and unique feeling TPS games I'd played at the time of release, it did feel odd at first but after a few minutes it started to come together. The hook gun, the management of the T-ENG meter, the VS combat... everything about it was different. In other words, it stood out. And then it continued doing so when hitting the online, Colonies then went on to add more to that. And then came Lost Planet 2, while it did feel lacking in some departments compared to the original (namely the story felt weaker, and less modes), it really did feel like it added on to what made the first game great by ironing out a few kinks in the gameplay, adding co-op, customization, bigger and more varied enviroments, weapons, Akrid and more. There was a few "iffy" design choices but they were barely noticeable compared to the other things the game offered... and the advertising was... poor. Enter Lost Planet 3, something that looks to be quite (very) different from the previous games... and not for the good either. The "quirky" but fun gameplay, the hook gun, T-ENG management, varied VS' and many other things have been ripped out of the game and have been replaced with scripted hooks, some hideous "rig" thing, rinse-and-repeat QTE's, bland and familiar looking gameplay and combat... I'll stop there. From what I've seen they have even found a way of making the giant Akrid bosses lack what made them fun. The thing in the underground from the E3 footage looked more like a punch bag than anything else, and how many times will they keep rehashing that "rig" drill in face thing like it's supposed to be "awesome" when really, that along with the rest of the footage of boss Akrid is just confirming my suspicion that bosses are punch bags and scripted moments (save the "for demonstration purposes" messages). Don't get me wrong, I'm glad there's a new Lost Planet game, it's just an outright shame this is it. To me it doesn't look like Lost Planet at all, and instead just some *ahem* with Lost Planet written on the case. EX Troopers looks to be a more faithful Lost Planet experience, and has me a lot more interested. So hopefully it gets localized.

I feel the same way. LP2 wasn't perfect but it was step in the right direction from LP1 and with more updates, it would have been perfect. I wish they would have released more updates for LP2 and used the wisdom from those updates to make LP3. This new LP3 with out the gameplay mechanics, VS's, or weapons, simply isn't lost planet. Spark should have only been allowed to make the online matching engine.

I truly believe this is just Capcom's way of **** on Inafune-san's legacy. I have no problem with the prequel direction they're going with. Its actually interesting as I've have thoughts about the pre-LP:EC world. But it how Capcom is allowing Spark to make such drastic changes to the game play that it not even funny. The thing about it is that LP1 and LP2 sold great in Japan, but I guarantee you that since Spark is turning this into a Gears clone, it won't do #'s in Japan. Hell, I'll go out on a limb and say that it will be the worse selling LP game in the series. Also, for those who are interested, I'm very much thinking about doing with Lost Planet the same thing Mike Z did with MvC 2. I'll have more info soon.

I truly believe this is just Capcom's way of **** on Inafune-san's legacy.
Considering that the game started development AT LEAST back in 2010 it's more plausible to think that it was Inafune himself that pushed for LP3's outsourcing, especially seeing how he complained about LP2's team and in general was obsessed with the west (remember that DR2, DmC and the cancelled MMUniverse were all his ideas, maybe even RE:ORC). The fact that one of his own company's games (Yaiba) is being developed by Spark only strenghtens my belief.
Treating him like a saint that is being punished for leaving Capcom is quite wrong, he has his own share of responsability for the direction the company took.
As for the series' sales, it's not quite true that they sold well in Japan : EC didn't reach 100k in it's launch week, and 2 sold around 110k~ on two platforms. Sadly it's nothing compared to the global sales of 1,5/1,6m that 1 and 2 respectively managed to register, and flopping in a single market won't make much difference, same goes for DmC. We have to hope for bad reviews and/or an off-putting demo for the game to sell badly, otherwise it'll probably end up selling enough to warrant continuing that way. At least the series doesn't have a strong brand recognition unlike RE and DMC, so it won't be able to sell on name alone.
Also, for comparison's sake, RE:ORC sold 270k in it's first week in Japan : almost three times more than LP for a HORRIBLE game from a mediocre developer.

Well after reading about this hands on demo of LP3 at TGS I'm having even more concerns. I fear the game is not going to do well before it's even released. I'm still hoping that it has at least some type of multiplayer though.

Ugh. I wish I would have never clicked on that review. All my pre-concieved negative thoughts on this game have now been validated by someone who has actually played some of the game. This pretty much sums up Sparks ability at being innovative in game design. "It's a third-person shooter as generic as they come: Cover-based shooting, space aliens, push left stick to run, etc" "Even worse is the QTE of doom that I repeatedly died at during the demo." I have a feeling this game will solidify Spark as a low-budget western developer that allows publishers to churn out crap games on the cheap.

My problem here isn't with outsourcing to a western developer, it how Capcom has allowed them to change almost eveything that made LP, LP. I guarantee that with Yaiba, even though Spark is involved, that is very much Inafune's game, and he will be very hands on in the development. With LP3, even though Capcom JP is involve (which seems more so only towards the single player at this point), they're agree to let Spark change alot of core mechanics of the game. And I'm not treating him like a saint because I'm on the fence about his current stance on Japanese game development, but lol if you don't think Cap feels a little disrespected, then I don't know what to say. Bro look at all the media that is coming out. This is an LP game only in name. And you can't compare the RE franchise to LP franchise. RE is truely beloved franchise in the Japan that has how many games in its series? We have 3 as of right now. So yeah, I would expect an RE game to move more units in Japan than LP just for the name alone. And the Japanese sales # for both games are hella good business wise for a country that really doesn't play shooters in the first place. LP imo has a niche fan base that won't do AAA shooter #'s but there is (or was) a big enough community to make Capcom some good money. Similar to Street Fighter. Edit: And to you're point about DmC, I haven't played one in a while, but from the videos I've seen, the game seems to retain its core mechanics, no?
