hey does the way we customize our character effect them....like um if I made a guy decked out in armor will it be harder to kill him than a guy with no armor?  or is it all just for looks witch is cool, im just curious.

That's the best way to do it, so you don't have to sacrifice survivability for aesthetics. I dig.
