Yeah I've been all over on business recently, I'll have to check out bioshock later today, I'm returning my 360 to Costco for the elite, so I'll be backing it up today later then sending it off with my wife for the new one. Costco's got a deal with a bundle and it includes another 13 month subscription to xbox live so I'll be using that in dec or jan. :D

You get what you paid for... ;)
Besides, the PS3 thing is for "Home," probably people posting obscene things in their house and luring unsuspecting youths in. They're not banning people for swearing over voice chat in online games.

well, one can hope that it will carry over to the in game behavour as well, as the online community grows.. btw.. the download speeds on XBL arnt much quicker.. if thats what you mean.
it took me 10 hours to download the Bioshock demo.
But one things forsure, Microsoft is much better at giving us demos, and pretty much any day of the week too (katamari just went up today).. unlike having to wait for the PS store to update the same time every week.

Bioshock was a freak accident. It took everyone that long to download, and that's the first time I've ever experienced anything like that.
But I've been dl'ing stuff on both systems at the same time, and the 360 dl speeds are much faster. I've never been able to download anything on the PS3 as fast as I get stuff on the 360.
I was dl'ing the RE5 full trailer on the PS3, and only had 62% after over an hour. Canceled it, queued it up on my 360, and had the full video in under 10 minutes.
And I had to leave my PS3 for 4+ hours to download a few short trailers last night, while I was able to download over a gig, give or take, of videos (trailers, Comic-Con stuff) on the 360 in a half an hour or so. :eek:

yea the dl times suck.. but if that means more $$ spent on dedicated servers for games.. then its a small price to pay.... not to mention Free backgrounds.. and the ablility to make/import your own...
I wont mention the the ads on XBL that cover up the "themes" I payed for either.. :p
They both have thier postives and negative aspects...but if microsoft wasnt so greedy, i think XBL could have so many more positives.
EDIT: also.. while it still remains to be seen.. I have a feeling the DL times will decrease dramatically once HOME is launched, or shortly after, as I would immagine Sony would take advantage of the advertising possibilities in HOME.

Servers for online games are mainly for matching - actual matches are p2p with one of the systems as host.
And you can make your own wallpaper on the 360, and you don't have to rename image files to have them recognized.
Yes, I imagine Sony will have a lot of ads in Home (just like on XBL). They have to make money off of this somehow, aside from the fees they charge 3rd parties to host content. The number of people using the PS store and playing games online is probably very small right now. But once the sales take off and you have 3, 4, 5, 10 million consoles sold (and way beyond, if they want to match PS1 and PS2), even a smallish percentage of those going online will really cost Sony. They're going to have to make money somehow, and I wonder how long they will be able to offer online for free. I can't say what I know about MS, but that's what makes me wonder how Sony can do it for "free."

no no, I mean actual dedicated servers.. like the ranked matches for warhawk, or resistance ( or battlefield on both PC and 360)
