Hello, I have bought the boxed game in a shop, I install the game, I have internet conectivity, I install the game and create the steam account, but when it seems that all is finished, I try to launch the game, but the game is all the time updating, and it doesn´t start, another box appear and it says that I have to wait until is updated, What is updating? The game? But the updating doesn´t go forward, all the time waiting, Is there any updating for the game, or this updating is another thing. Please help. Playing with this game seems impossible.

Thanks for your answer, I thought it was the offline one player game for Lost Planet, I still can not play the game, all the time updating :( . I hope I soon can play without being connected.

Welcome to Steam.  I personally don't think its that bad but if you mainly play single player games and/or don't like connecting to the internet 24/7 then you have to keep an eye one Steam.   You should be able to :-
0. close Steam and any games that run with it.
1. disconnect from the internet.
2. start Steam and select "offline mode"
3. start Lost Planet single player game
If you cannot then there's a bug somewhere.

Out of interest do you know how big an update was downloaded through Steam?

Has the update finished yet?  Look at the "my games" menu tab in steam. e.g.
Cheers

In the near term, offline isn't an option (even for single player). As I've stated before, I don't believe that's functioning quite as intended and the team is looking into it. I believe the intent is to support Steam's offline mode.

Thanks for all the answers, I have tried the offline method, but as I hope, this doesn´t work with Lost Planet, As Mr. Sven says, we have to wait until the team fix it...

Did you download all your updates?  Is Lost Planet "100% Ready" in the "My games" tab of Steam ?
