Disclaimer: I actually enjoy Lost Planet online play. Alot. However, there are many issues that prevent this game from being as great as it could have been.
I will attempt to list the majority of the online issues here so that you can give me feedback/add your own complaints. I'm sure many of these have already been suggested, but that just means I'm on the right track.
Here is a list of things that I think are wrong (or could be improved upon) with the Lost Planet Multiplayer mode and would like to see fixed:
Matchmaking: -No Party System (i.e. Halo2)
-The host can't kick players. This is a necessary feature for removing players who: join the team with more players, team-kill, sing into their mics, etc.
-The host can't change settings without creating a new lobby. Everyone has to get dumped from the room if you would like to play with a new gamemode/map/time-limit/etc
-The host can't set a map cycle. You either play all the maps or just one of them.. again and again..
-Players can't join a team until the host has clicked 'start match' (you are given 15 seconds to jump on a team), this means that teams often end up being uneven because players panick at the last moment and join the team with more players. We should be able to choose a team in the lobby and THEN have the host start the game after the teams are even.
Lost Planet does give us the option to turn team-switching 'off', but then you can't be guaranteed you will play with your friends.
-The host needs the option to restrict (or change) certain weapons/VS in their game. Customization is a good thing! i.e. replace Homing Laser w/Sniper Rifle.
-The Host should have the option to restrict voice modification!
-It would be nice for the host to have the option to turn environmental effects (snow storm & day turning to night, etc.) on, off, or variable.
on = Always dark or blizzarding off = Never night or blizzarding variable = Just like it is currently in the game
In-Game: -Can't join a match mid-game! This can be frustrating when you are trying to join up with friends. Ranked matches shouldn't allow this feature, obviously.
-Can't tell which players are talking in-game. A players name should be displayed at the side of the screen while they are speaking, this would aid teamwork. Many times players will ask for assistance and I will not know who is asking for help.
This feature should be absent from 'Fugitive Hunt' as it is fun for the Fugitive to try and deceive the hunters by calling out things like: "Hes hiding in the waterfall!".
-Not being able to move/return fire while being shot = frustrating. The bullet paralysis needs to be toned down (not removed).
-Net code needs a little work. Please use Perfect Dark Zero as a reference, as it has some of the best net-code of any 360 title to date. Does anyone disagree with this? I'm sure we have all come across those enemies in LP that can't even be killed because they are lagging so bad. If you don't believe me, try lowering your upload rate and you will see what I mean..
-Giant, earth-shattering explosions (from VS fire) appear to destroy all, but usually don't kill anyone unless they are a direct hit. This is fine, but they should have more splash damage. It just feels weird to be totally unharmed by a massive blast that hit mere feet away. Note: This only applies to a few VS guns, but I'm sure you have encountered them already.
-Radar shows everyone as the same red dot. Friends should appear as a different color to promote teamwork. Also, the radar should indicate if the enemies are above or below you. Please see Perfect Dark Zero for a good example. Note: The fugitive shouldn't show up as a different color on radar!
Data posts should be displayed on outer edges of radar if they are VERY far away. This way teams could coordinate plans better. Often someone will say "lets take post #3" and hardly anyone will know where that is..
-Getting knocked down by a weapon's blast happens WAY too often and is annoying. After I knock someone to the ground I must wait patiently until they stand up (they take no damage while on the ground) to finish them off.
Please, reduce the ammount of times that players get knocked down by other players (not VS)!
-Players with faster connections get a head-start when the round begins. All players should start the round at the same time!
-Reduce Plasma grenade starting # to 5, but make it more effective against VS.
-Homing laser/Energy gun should be slightly easier to dodge. Homing laser should use 2x more energy than it does.
-Many maps have spawn point imbalances. I can't stress how much of an understatement this is..
Example: Pirate fortress Map - one team spawns up top and the other down below. The team that spawns up top wins about 80-90% of the time. Please consider tweaking weapon/VS locations to aid the terrain-hindered team.
-Many players will start 'fugitive hunt' sessions after only 1 player joins the room. This will virtually insure their victory and is a cheap way to get massive ammounts of points in ranked games. There should either be a minimum # of players to start a FH session or a scaled energy bar for the fugitive to make there job harder. Also, the fugitive gains energy much too fast while simply walking around. Fugitive should gain only 1/2 the energy they currently do from taking a post.
A decent fugitive will win about 90% of the time. Doesn't that seem a little high?
-The Fugitive should be chosen at random. The fugitive should also lose energy slowly while holding still.
-In the game mode Elimination the spawn-shield should go away quicker. I have had players spawn in the same spot as me mere seconds later.. and of course I couldn't even shoot back because they were invincible. =/
Also, players shouldn't be able to spawn were someone else has spawned for atleast 15 seconds.
-Can't look straight up or down. This can be very frustrating in some situations.
-Characters run (walk) the same speed in snow as on dry ground. A small speed increase while running on dry ground would be nice.
-The ability to switch weapons while moving would be great! However, I think you should still have to pause for a moment while reloading/picking up large weapons.
-Can't unzoom the sniper rifle while reloading them. This is a minor gripe, as I could always unzoom before reloading, but it is still annoying at times.
-The reward for hooking a mech and firing into it's weak spot is rather small considering the difficulty of the task (staying attached, not getting shot by the mech's friends, actually hitting it's weak spot, finding a mech with a weak spot)
-There should be a stronger punishment for team-killers
-If your character is underwater, but your camera is above water you don't hear what is going on below the surface and vice versa. This is rather annoying.
-Rockets can kill without touching you or landing near you. This may be due to lag, but I have died 3 times from a rocket flying by me (atleast 3 feet away) and landing 30 yards away. Did the air dispersed from the passing projectile kill me or was this a visual glitch due to lag? Either way it is frustrating to be killed by something that you clearly avoided.
-The character shadows often show through walls and sometimes across an entire level. This can either be unsightly or really bad news when it gives away your position, even though you are otherwise perfectly concealed.
-Although I usually like mechs in the game, an option to turn them off would be nice. A mech only mode would also be a great game mode!
Menu system: -Everytime you start up Lost Planet it asks you where you want to save your data. This is a waste of time and is very annoying. Please, just make the game default to saving on the HD.
Also, you then have to click 'ok' to the news that your data was loaded successfully. I would rather be notified when the data is NOT loaded, but otherwise I don't care.
I would be happy to never see another "press 'ok' to leave and join authorized session". The ONLY OPTION is to press 'ok' so why make us do anything?
Wish List: -More game modes: CTF, Coop Story Mode, VS only, VS v.s. Humans (humans have numbers advantage), king of the hill (post & control weapons at the top of hill), etc.
-Clan Support
-Knife Melee weapon (have to hold down melee button for 1.5 sec) instant kill, but only works on people who are holding still (i.e. plasma or data post)
-Ability to use anchor after right after jumping.
-More levels (free or pay.. free would be nice :))

I would like to finish by saying that this game is ALOT of fun (I wouldn't play it if it wasn't), however it has a few issues that need to be addressed before the experience can be truly amazing.
The single most frustrating thing about this game is that it came so close to being amazing, but fell a little short in some important areas.

Please consider these issues while making your next patch. Oh, and thank you for listening to the fans and releasing the first patch so quickly! I think I speak for everyone when I say that we appreciate it when game devs listen to the public!

I agree with you until you get down to the radar. I think its too useful already, adding team colors would make hiding/sneaking all but impossible, ruining some of the game balance to me. You kind of get super picky to me after that too. I havent had any real lag issues but lag happens in all games so thats hard to judge LP on. The maps are awesome to me, I hate the mirror maps so many online games do (Gears, I am looking at you!). Part of the challenge is fight against uneven odds, yeah, some games suck but then again, its sweet when the game is going your way so that falls into point of view. The shadows bug does annoy, cant argue that one. More specific options would be nice, you should definitely be able to change them without dropping the whole game. Overall, good post but remember its not gonna be perfect either, I think for one of Capcom's first endevour's in this genre, it turned out great, online and offline.

Lagg does happen and it happens a lot unless you have conection faster than 1024k youll get major lagg. sometimes you get a person getting shot at by 3 ppl :eek: and he wont die :confused: and kill you all and yes its not skill :mad: .
I would really hope if capcom would address this issue.
second most of the things you posted I really agree with the radar the second poster has a valid point in it but the homing laser and energy guns /sigh I mean we actualy call them the noob guns of LP or the "if youre losing get them and score cheap points.
the game modes specialy the one to forbid VS and weapons so you can have more choices and please keep in mind the lobby features the first poster said he makes a very very valuable point in it. it needs work and lots of work its so far the weakest lobby system ive seen very poorly for a game that could have been an awsome game in its online I mean its still great but as so many ppl put it down its no gears of war not for the innovation it has, but for the lack of features it lacks and the bugs that werent fixed. for me it actualy feels like an incomplete game maybe a few more fixes and it would have been one of those games that made you say whoa!!!
It just lacks some little fixes but I hope Capcom fixes the lobby and makes more features to the game.
Thanks for a really good game but dont just stay with we made a good game lets pack and shipp it just say it can get better always and it will be....:cool:

I have to agree that much of these posts do get very picky after a while throughout the read. I would only sum it down to the critical things...
[LIST] [*]Allow Hosts to be able to kick players from Player Matches, not ranked. [*]Create more layouts without mechs. Lost Coast would be wonderful without mechs, even though it is perfectly balanced at the moment with mechs. (If you think it's not balanced, then you need to explore that map more.) [*]Allow for Regional Match Servers as well as National Match Servers. [*]Allow Hosts to adjust game settings in the lobby of Player Matches, not ranked. [*]Allow for Map Cycle Lists. [*]Notify who is using Mic while in-game. (Yes, I hate having to ask "Who are you and WHERE do you need help?) [*]Fix Fugitive Mode to where it's actually fun and fair. [/LIST]
That's really all I think is important.

- Some weapons can't be picked up - Data posts reverse themselves - The Shotgun is just messed up, sometimes people can kill me from several feet away, but yet when I shoot at someone point-blank in the face or chest, they don't die, or even get knocked down. I think this is because of the increasing server lag, because on rare occasions, my Shotgun will actually work the way it did on January 12th

Great thread. But can you add one more suggestion to the list? A guest feature, like in Halo2 and Gears of War. So me and 1(or maybe 3) other friends can go online together.
Almost every game that I have brought that has a guest feature makes it so my friends want to buy it too, because if I'm the only one that has it, they get to experience it too, where we can both have fun.
Sometimes me and 1 other friend could just play Gears of War an entire night online, it's great, and it would work well for Lost Planet.
And also, maybe adding the ability to spawn with your team at data post that your team controls. It wouldn't work in some levels, especially the smaller ones. But it would help you spawn near your allies in huge levels like Lost Coast. Maybe to balance it out, make spawning at a data post have a 10 second respawn time, and if enemies are within a certain distance, you can't spawn there. It would make it so you kill somebody, and he cant respawn before you reach the post.

I think this is because of the increasing server lag, because on rare occasions, my Shotgun will actually work the way it did on January 12th The weapons that cant be picked its because of lagg they appear in your screen but not in the game; someone may picked them up but your xbox didnt get that they where picked and that way they will appear on your screen and not on the game. ( I checked that with a friend) :eek: there is also a problem when trying to get in some VS you need at least 2 or 3 tries to get inside them and sometimes you cant get in at all. and those are there = /.
data post dont reverse themselves:confused: its just that with lagg you cant see some players in the game altho they cant see you either. yeah it sucks big time
and about the shotgun its true but ity maybe be lagg as well as with some ppl appear to be invinsible and its because they or you are lagging really bad but it happens sometimes it takes one shot sometimes a full magazine :mad:
hope they fix the LAGG in LP please Capcom fix it!!! :)

They need to fix the bug where Dante comes out of nowhere and decapitates me. That ****es me off sometimes. :mad:
