Now, I want to make it clear this is unsubstantiated and I did not hear this myself, but apparently it can be found in IGN's recent podcast. Apparently do to Lost Planet 2's horrible sales: at a recent investors meeting, Capcom executives deemed that the series was under represent to an unrepairable degree. As such, the Lost Planet series is being shelved indefinitely, while the company intends to explore different avenues. It is not uncommon for Japanese companies to just release a games core as a new series, but I fear Lost Planet as we know it will not be continued. I speculate that Capcom really wanted LP2 to break them into western culture's 'hardcore shooters' elite club. Although we all would have loved to of had LP2 bumping elbows with CoD and GoW at Halo's backyard cookout, the game critically and financial has been an absolute flop. I can only hope this is not true... although I will have to wait until I get home to listen to the Podcast myself.

Well, I am officially Pissed, Man before they go can they do just one last thing for me so I don't have to see LP2 die? Anyways, In the ask capcom thread there was something about the LP2 moving on to new projects so this very well may be true. Well, when do we expect a server cut?

You may be getting ahead of yourself a bit Justin. You may want to get the podcast and check it out. I would not also automatically assume that if the LP series is discontinued the support for LP2 will not continue in some fashion. As for servers... I play on XBL which will not drop LP2 support if the series ends... it doesnt work that way.

IGN's Podcast is called Game Scoop... I would look in the episode summaries for something that says about Capcom's financial results. It will be one of the most recent Episodes. A quick Google of "Capcom financial q2" gave some pretty dismal findings that support the above rumor. Click Here

I think you guys are overreacting. The idea of LP3 is too far into the future to even speculate. Eventhough, LP is not as popular as COD or Halo over here, doesn't mean that it isn't popular in Japan or overseas. I'm sure you guys had playing sessions where the majority of rooms are Japanese or foreign. In terms of finances, Capcom will bounce back. They'll be raking it in when MvC3 comes out and SF x Tekken after that. No worries guys just keep playing the game.

I'm not overreacting in the slightest. 19:20 in the Podcast they start talking about it, games.ign.com/articles/110/1109715p1.htm... is the link Clearly, no matter how much you try to westernize a game like Lost Planet, unless you take out all the things that make the game Eastern about it, its not happening. But you know, I don't want that to happen. There are enough western shooters out there, this is the first time I've actually seen asian players play shooters, and dominate no less. I wouldn't know, but this game seems popular over there. Like CxC, they're going to bounce back with their other games. Marvel vs Capcom 3, Street Fighter x Tekken, MegaMan Universe, you get the idea.
