Ok without reading 6 pages worth of Stun complaints and defending. Im Going to put my 2 cents in so excuse if somethings i say has already to argued over.
In my opinion The MG and its stun needs to be adjusted. Either by health lowering at a slower rate or letting the player twitch less and have a chance to react. Regardless which way they adjust the stun, they have to consider that its easy to hold the trigger and keep your curser on the other player. What takes skill is defensive gameplay. People want to be able to take their experience they have from other shooters and use that to help them learn LP2 gameplay. A lot of shooters are enjoyed because of their defensive gameplay. Rolling, Jumping, Dodging, Straffing, LP2's Grappling, Melee, whatever the game is, there is plenty of ways to counter another player's simple point and shoot offense. So the same is said for martial arts, Defense is key. And if im limited to only rolling and jumping when the other player is simply holding down the right trigger and i still die, well im sorry, but that is bad game design.
I played plenty of fighting games and shooters and what makes the great ones stand out is that for every offensive move, there is a handful of defensive reactions and counterattacks.
Just look at it this way. It would be a lot more fun to watch 2 skilled players go 1 on 1 when they are moving, ducking, diving and grappling all over the place, bullets flying, melee's to the face as opposed to one just shooting while the other either takes it and dies or does a predictable roll or jump. Have i cleared my vision of what this game could be yet? Someone say they are with me...

Ive always been annoyed by this, but we are going to have to get over it. Its not a beta, they probably arent going to make drastic gameplay changes to the game now.

What fighting games?

I play BLAZBLUE, and im a freaking beast at it.  :)

Im happy to see that more people are coming to accept the stun. Lets hope the issue is over.

I remember someone saying how the stun effect would frustrate and perhaps even cause new players to stop playing LP2. As LP fans, I think its our responsibility to help newbs with this type of situation (or any for that matter) by giving advice on what to do; whether they want it or not lol.

I'm going to say this right now. It's been on my chest for a while, and I'm gonna get it off.

They need to westernize the game a little more. For me, I personally don't care about the roll (been playing since LP1) and I don't care about the knockdown animations, but there are some things that are way out of hand, and I'll give a few examples.

The gun battery: If I go up behind the gun battery pilot (who is exposed) and point blank him with a shotgun, he won't die. It's stupid, especially considering how strong the gun battery is in the game.

The Bullet stun: This is a shooter. What is the point of a shooter if you can't shoot? The netcoding in this game causes people to get the extra couple bullets in, and I've had situations where I was unable to move OR shoot back at the other player because of this mechanic.

These sort of things turn off a lot of players that are new to the game. Don't get me wrong, I love Lost Planet, but I'm done with trying to sell it off to my friends as an amazing MP experience, because when they go on and play, and they can't even shoot or roll because of the stun, there's nothing that will change their mind. So far, I've just been telling friends about the Campaign Co-Op, and so far they think its going to be amazing, but a lot of my friends, and other gamers in general, don't want this game because of a lot of the things in it. And the only reason I want them to westernize the game a bit more, is so it will sell well, and we could possibly get a Lost Planet 3, and have this game become a big phenomenon. But when CAPCOM is too ignorant to change the things that turn off all the new players to the game, its hard to get people into the game because they will go back to playing some crap like MW2. All I ask is that the stun gets taken out completely, or at least EXTREMELY toned down, and maybe fix that issue with the gun battery, and make the pilot more vulnerable.

Agree with Tri.  Why the shiznit can't I shoot someone in a gun batter who's body is completely exposed?

I know where you are coming from with your frustrations regarding the stun.  It can feel like a serious disadvantage at times, and then other times it is a huge advantage too.

For example: When a player has a power weapon and is owning the playing field, its good to know that with my default machine gun and good aim I can flat out stop this player.  Now, I for one like that. I believe it balances the game very nicely.

Also, I am very against this game being "westernized". I understand your argument, but I think this game is special, and I would never want it to sell out to please the masses.

LP1 sold 2.x million. I don't see why they should "westernize it"

I don't know about the stun cuz I don't have the multiplayer demo, have to wait for next week to get it on public PSN.

BUT I think it's good that people argue about such mechanics!

Developers don't have to listen anyway, but if it realy is just annoying they will change it.

I mean they are playing it by themself too!! so they know what they're doing!

see you online

I have experienced the same difficulty of shooting players out of turrets and it can probably be acredited to lag mostly. But I have found that gatling cannon works extremely well at knocking them out.

As for MG stun I'm gonna get this complaint to go away...eventually.

So far there are 9 ways to deal with or negate MG stun that I know of.

If using a single shot weapon, attempt to fire the weapon as many times as possible while you are being stunned, chances are they will miss a few times and you will be able to fire.

Try and jump as many times as you can, if they miss a little bit you will be able to jump and throw their aim off and give you a chance to turn the tables

If at point blank use melee, it can be used while being stun a lot better than shooting, and if you hit them while they are on the groung you will be able to shoot back before they recover.

The blue defense buff from the injection gun, battle armor, and vss basically negate MG stun.

Firing a gatling cannon makes you less vulnerable to MG stun.

If you get behind cover they can't hit you.

Roll, pretty self-explanitory.

in the end, sniper always wins...
