Can't say I've ever needed to shoot someone in their spawn from my spawn in the Cube. The Plasma Cannon SP is pretty much perfect for the Cube since it bounces off walls and blinds people and everything. Flamheart has brought up some very good points. The rocket launcher just can't hang with the other heavy weapons. The only thing it's good for is campaign because akrid are stupid. Enemies in online play aren't that stupid, at least not most of them. Rocket launchers are just too easy to get away from due to a slow reload time and the sound it makes when it's coming for you. If you're using a rocket launcher in a heavy weapons elimination match, guarantee you won't make top 5. It doesn't put up the numbers. It's just too slow. The days of the rocket launcher are over.

I do use the rocket launcher in Campaign mode because of its high damage. Enemy VSs, large Akrid, and packs of Sepia do not stay much of a chance. I use the Rocket Laucher in multiplayer matches with lots of VSs.

Rocket Laucher II is great  for online when shooting at players, but not VSs. It does not do enough damage to make it worth while. Kinda annoying when it tracks into a wall or low cover, but you have to line up your shots.

Plasma Cannon is great for normal and hard campaign, but it uses too much T-ENG. I used to use it online but it is kinda slow.

Plasma Cannon SP is not that great in the campaign for bosses. Online it is alright, but when enemies are only hit by one they survive. Drains T-ENG. Since I like using the Fastrey, it is not a good choice.

Handcannon is wonderful offline for enemies in battle armour and VSs. Not that great in multiplayer because it can be rolled off. Same for Handcannon SP.

I don't have Rocket Laucher SP yet.

I personally prefer the Rocket Launcher and the Rocket Launcher II, both for different situations. And the Plasma Cannons do not have infinite ammunition, they have a finite amount of shots depending on how much T-ENG you have.

Actually, as long as it is a clean body shot that is completely stuck on an enemy, it should kill the player on impact, if is loosely stuck on the person, then the player has the chance to roll out of it.

I used the Plasma Cannon SP the past few heavy weapons matches I did and in one, I even forgot to change my abilities so I had head start ammo on with special guard. That helped me in absolutely no way. Though I didn't get first, I tied for the most kills, overheated my weapon only once, and never ran out of thermal energy. The only time your weapon will overheat is if you fail to even knock down or phase the person with the first shot. If you can aim, there's practically no escape from the SP unless you roll it, but that's how it is with any weapon. When I had T-Eng Weapon Master II on, I got first place with the most kills, never came close to overheating and never came close to running out of thermal energy. I still do better with, and prefer, the Hand Cannon SP, but either way, my stance stands, the original rocket launcher is completely obsolete. There is no tactical advantage to using it over the plasma cannons or the hand cannons.

The best weapon in LP1 has become the worst weapon in its class in LP2.

I will agree with that. I use mostly the original rocket launcher on my poison account and have the unfair advantage. not because I don't have them unlocked because I do but I think the plasma cannon SP is cheap and annoying. they take up your whole screen with purple balls and when other shoot them get in the way of your targets and are blinding. I like using my rocket launcher yes you need to be more priciest with the aiming but I like that fact. its nice knowing your killing people because you can aim and hit them directly rather then the spread or shots or a sticking exploding bullet you might have ran into.

The blinding balls are super annoying. Although you actually have to be more precise with your aiming when using the hand cannon, but I know what you mean. It feels great to be able to kill someone with the old school, outdated, behind the times, not up to par rocket launcher. I guess that's the only good thing about it, self-satisfaction haha.

Well, in my experience gaming, especially in Saints Row 2 what with not too bright AI, I've learned something.

RPGs aren't cose range weapons.

They just aren't.

Fighting in places like Cube, and expecting an RPG (Lets face it, that's what the rocket launchers are) to beat out the low range, no reload, deadly plasma weapons is simply absurd! Small maps play to almost none of the RPG's strengths with only projectile speed, and blasts being helpful. Range is irrelevnt because you can't move out of range.

Get in places like NEOS, and Thunderpeal, or even medium maps where you can take advantage of the fact a rocket can likely go across the frikking level, and plasma cannons have no shot at the same feat.

Cube practicaly caters to plasma cannons!

Have you been ignoring the fact that it's been stated multiple times that there's a weapon for every job? Close range combat isn't for the RPG.

Now, rocket launcher SP? That's more suited for close range, and almost perfect for cube. It can clear the obstacles, and bombard a target. Best part is that you can stay in cover. It has 3 rounds a clip, and doesn't drain your t-energy.

Ah. Still, that's not too shabby considering you don't have to deal with overheat.

Yeah, 3 Grenades in a Clip Pre Patch. You forgot to mention that its ability to arc over cover helps on cube, as well as its ability to bounce on all those walls.

My MegaMan preference for MVC3 would had been Starforce, but yeah sure, I'll jump on this bandwagon, if X does indeed get in as DLC, there better be gamers playing as him or else this would had been a waste of time and missed opportunity for another Capcom Character...

I sorta implied it arcs over stuff with the clearing obstacles, but you put it more directly. And yeah, the bounce. :3

Obviously, the plasma cannons are perfect for cube. The Rocket Launcher(default one) is built for medium-large maps(some small maps be included like pirate fortress,  turbent jungle).
