The menu screen lags so unbelievably bad that it takes forever to get into any of the selections.  Anyone else having this problem?  I purchased the game from Steam.  Here are my specs:

Intel Core 2 E6300
Radeon 2900xt (6.7 cat)
4 gig of ram
Windows XP 32 bit

I have the LP DX9 Demo working now. I updated my ATI Catalyst Control Center to version 7.6. Briefly my config is:

Intel Core 2 Duo
DX9 (latest)
Win XP Pro SP2 (latest updates)
2, ATI X1900XT in Crossfire config.
2GB Dram
Catalyst Control Center 7.6

My problem was when starting the game I would spawn in 3rd person but the character would just spin and no keyboard or mouse controls would function.

Lost, here is a question for you. Should I be able to run the DX10 version of the demo even though my ATI cards are not DX10 capable? My system has 2 separate hard disks. When I boot up I can choose whether to boot into XP Pro or Windows Vista Ultimate. I have installed the the latest Catalyst Control Center 7.6 on Vista Ultimate. Should I need to update the DX10 files on my Vista opsys drive?

Thanks and Good Luck to all who are having problems.

Cheers,

Aidan :)

Absolutely positively not. It will crash (because your setup as you've noted isn't DX10 capable... Vista alone will not allow you to run DX10). You should be running the DX9 code.

Sven,

Thanks for responding. When I run the DX9 demo on Vista Ultimate, I get the "XInput1_3.dll" missing error when I start the demo. I have tried going to the MS Directx website and downloading the June 2007 Directx Runtime software but the web install program shows it is trying to install DirectX from Feb 2006 and then the install fails? What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for your help.

Aidan

Hmmm... If even MS's official installer won't update the correct file for you, another way I can think of is to find someone who is also running Vista 64-bit who does have the file, and just post that file for people to download.

Anyone out there have Vista 64? Unfortunately, my test machine is only running Vista 32-bit.

Lost,

I am not running Vista Ultimate 64 bit. I am running Vista Ultimate 32 bit. I will try to troubleshoot this with Microsoft.

Thanks for your response.

I found a work around for my problem with using the latest DirectX end user runtime web installer program on Microsoft's download site. I just downloaded and used the DirectX June 2007 Redistributable program. I unzipped it to a folder and then ran the DXSETUP.exe file and I was able to update my XP Pro SP2 and Vista Ultimate 32 bit Op sys installations.

BTW, the LP DX9 Demo runs fine now on my Vista Ultimate op sys. I still have a little incompatibility with my dual ATI X1900XTX in Crossfire mode. I have to disable Crossfire for the demo to correctly execute. I assume this is either the demo or the ATI Catalyst software.

I would be interested to know if anyone else is having Crossfire problems with the newly released official version of Lost Planet PC.

Good Luck,

Aidan :)
