Apart from some initial lockup problems (solved by the 160.03 drivers) the game is running ok for me.

My only beef right now is that a lot of stuff seems way too bright. For example the passage under the rock arch in the first level where wind is blowing through. The snowy wind is so bright I can barely see the arch or the Akrid on it - from playing on an XBox kiosk I know it shouldn't be that bright.

I thought it might be a brightness issue, but then the cave and the garage are ok - the garage actually seems a little too dark. I think the problem is that the default contrast level is just way to high, making whites too white and darks to dark. Maybe an HDR thing? I would try adjust my video cards contrast level in the driver - but they're perfectly set for the other games I play and I don't want to mess with them.

Has anyone else noticed this or is the contrast/brightness ok for you?

PS I have an 8800GTX and I'm playing on a Samsung LN-T2653H HDTV.

May be an HDR thing, try tuning it down in game options, or perhaps the TV?

It's a tad bit bright but it's snowy, when I wake up on a morning in the winter and walk outside before my eyes have adjusted it's almost painful.

I have an 8800GTX as well, but I'm running the 158.43(nvidia's beta lost planet drivers)

After messing with my color settings I'd say it's the game.  I did get the game to the point where the contrast didn't look too high, but only by turning down my video card contrast to the point where my desktop and all other games were completely washed out.

After seeing that, I'd say the default contrast is way too high - maybe to compensate for cheaper low contrast LCDs/HDTVs, but my HDTV is a very high contrast model and I can only imagine how the game looks for people using CRTs.

HDR has very little effect.  Actually things look a little better contrast-wise with HDR on high - which is sort of conterintuitive.  You'd think higher HDR = more contrast.
