So I waited up all night to download the DirectX 9 demo to try out on my 7900 GTX based machine, run the installer and get the following error message:

"The Lost Planet Demo Trial does not support your operating system".

That really blows guys.  Looks like I have to cancel my preorder.  :(

Odd it works in Vista 64bit, not sure why it wouldn't work in XP 64bit.

I'll check on that in the morning. I would think it does.

Anyone else getting this error on this version of XP Pro?

Can you right click on the file that starts it/go to  properties and then run the compatibility mode to another O/S?

The message you're seeing is likely with the installer checking the OS version, not with the game supporting that version.

As CommanderZx2 indicated, if it runs on Vista64...

It's the 64bit version of XP Pro, not plain XP Pro, just in case you didnt' catch that :D

Thanks Daggs, check back with us here tomorrow night. I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be supporting your OS (or at least the finished product should be). I just want to confirm with the team what's supposed to be happening on the demo and why it might not be loving you. And yep, I caught the 64-bit distinction.

Just to add, this is actually the very first game that has given this kind of error - everything else I have installed on this machine new or old using the installed x64 0S has worked just fine.

Shame as I was really looking forward to this, I just hope it can be rectified at some point so I can have the same chance at playing the full release everyone else does.  :)

EDIT: Cheers Sven, that would be very much appreciated ;)
