Any chance there will be some cash tournaments held for this game by Capcom or someone?

And if there are, please Capcom, do it somewhere other than California! They get everything! Do it in like, Minnesota or something, because it's cold... yeah.
But anyway, that would be pretty cool if there was an official tournament. Hopefully Sven or Brian Dunn can come in here and tell us if there will be one.

Yep, we're exploring some options regarding LP tournaments right now. As to the question of online vs offline, we're looking at both! The simple tournament we ran at the LP launch party went so well that our winners were able to defeat the Lost Planet developers in a close team elimination match and took home a bunch of cool stuff.
To Lucent85: it may be "lol" to you to travel someplace to play a game you already own, but if you look around you'll notice that competitive players of pretty much anything do exactly that. Even games that can be played effectively online have live, in-person finals (from videogames to chess).
As someone with a long history at live videogame competitions, I can tell you that when they're done right, they're about a million times more fun than the online equivalents. As evidence, I point to the fact that people that attend their first live tournament keep coming back, year after year, win or lose. Try one sometime--I think you'd be surprised.
best, Seth
Ask me about my beard. Or don't. It's cool either way.
