Is there a way to kill that thing, or do you really just have to run from him? I really want to fight him, but I noticed there's no life bar so it ain't a boss fight. I just want to know can you kill him?

yes you can kill him. by killing him in extreme condition you would get an achievement. from what i remember when i killed him like 30 seconds later a whole new worm apeared so if you kill him and this happens don't worry.
