For both the directx 9 and directx 10 versions. Manually launching them even with admin rights, gives the same problem. DirectX has been updated, etc. GFWL is installed and everything, yet this happens.

Specifications:

AMD Radeon HD 7950 using Catalyst 13.4 Drivers (Beta 13.8 drivers didn't work either.)
16 GB of Mushkin Enhanced 1.35v RAM (1600 MHz)
AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Processor at 3.3 GHz
Windows 8 Professional x64 with Media Center

Verifying the files after deleting them did not help at all. Using compatibility mode for any windows version, does not work either.

I cannot redeem the code on the GFWL marketplace, as it is not valid.

The game has not properly started ever, so I cannot edit the user config file to turn off SLI / crossfire.

Settings are all application set on my AMD Radeon HD 7950 too, so it's not the fault of my Catalyst settings:

coldReactive (Iyeru): 8-bit color does the same crash
coldReactive (Iyeru): 16-bit color, same crash
coldReactive (Iyeru): 640x480? Same crash
RPGpro: hmm, I've had to use those settings before now in order to boot games up then change the in-game settings
coldReactive (Iyeru): It'll crash before configs are even generated

it looks like Lost Planet 2 has the same problem. It's likely that MT Framework is incompatible with Windows 8, making both games unplayable even with compatibility modes.

Not working here on Vista either.

Hell, not even the orignial Lost Planet works, and that was designed for Vista.

There's barely any information available for these game on the net; not even an entry for either on PCGaming Wiki.

Shame, really wanted to replay LP before I played LP2 for the first time; but I can't even play either!

I'm having the same problem. I tried redownloading it and reinstalling and updating directx and everything... Still won't start. I try to open LP Colonies and it gives me the option to choose between DirectX9 or DirectX10 or Cancel. Neither 9 or 10 work and as soon as I choose either of them, the launcher closes and literally nothing happens. Searched for hours online for other threads and I've found lots with the same problem yet there is no solution for it. Real frustrating. If anyone finds a solution please let me know

LP1/LPC were designed for Windows XP. Works great on XP and W7. No idea about Vista, cause i never had this OS. What is your OS ? Maybe you should try to run in XP or W7 compability ? I`m not sure if you have this option....?

I have newest AMD drivers, looks like something connected with Windows Live. After fresh install, setup asks for Live login, and after that needs update to newer version. After that always hangs. After Windows Live uninstall all starts again. I tried Microsoft Live, and Xbox version, and it always hangs.

Try to download Games for Windows Live setup before installing game. Maybe then you`ll skip updating.
