Hi,

I have bought a new rig including a Sapphire HD7870 XT w/ boost
Lost Planet Colonies which was working perfect in former rig (played it dozens hours) is now crashing after a few minutes of gameplay. After thinking about a defect gfx card for a while, I am now thinking it could rather be a problem with capcom games.

Important notes:
1. rig is entirely new, built from scratch as is OS, all softwares are up-to-date
2. Crash only happens in directx10 mode, never in directx9 mode even with higher display setting/gpu stress/temperatures
3. Resident Evil 5 suffers from the very same bug, always crashes in dx10, never in dx9
4. I tested Crysis 1 in dx9 and dx10 and no crash at all, so it appears to be a capcom problem only so far

solved the problem it was a MS direct3d "hotfix" which screwed up everything


jesus ****ing stupid MS BS christ


I sure hope no more game using that stupid Windows Live **** will ever be issued

in case people would experience this issue, I'll be more specific


you will need to uninstall the following microsoft "platform update" support.microsoft.com/kb/2670838/


this may be not trivial matter to everybody so I included a link with instructionsat the bottom of this post


that botched microsoft update forced on users is known to cause a lot of crashes in many games unsing dx10 (google it if you need evidence), including capcom's Lost Planet and RE5, but also a lot of non capcom dx10 games, could be one of the reasons why the video game industry has largely stopped using MS rubbish
