Lost Planet 2 is full of epic akrid, which you'll get full doses of constantly throughout your journey of the campaign mode. In Episode 2 you'll be up against one such akrid, mysteriously named Akrid X. We've got a bunch of new screens to share with you, as well as some info on how this devilish looking monster attacks. He's fast, using his wings to fly and hop all over the city. Keeping your eyes on him is not easy, which means you'll be on your toes the whole fight with him.

His attacks range very widely, including quite a few nasty tricks with his glowing arm. He'll swipe at you and your allies, and even focus in for a painful pin-point stab.

Be on the look out for his throw. Akrid X picks up anything he can find, like rocks, or even train cars and hurls them at you. And if you get hit by a train... well, you'll be watching that respawn screen.

He also breathes fire and throws exploding fireballs. The fire attacks are pretty varied, as he'll just straight up burn everything in sight, or focus on close range attacks to mop up you ankle biters out there (that attack lasts a long time), and of course throwing those explosive fireballs I mentioned.

Now that you know a few of his basic attacks (yes, there's plenty more tricks up his sleeve, but I won't spoil it all for you) it's time to learn how to dish out some of your own butt kickin'. First off, there's all sorts of VS and weapons in the city. Be sure to grab plenty of ammo, load up on Thermal Energy, and be sure your teams battle gauge is stocked up with point. Once you're ready, take him on. But be aware that he only has two weak spots: his arm, and his head. So keep a steady aim!

this boss battles looking and sounding fantastic, i'm very happy that LP2's focusing so much on huge/epic boss battles. this definetly looks like the kind of game i'll co-op through several times with friends.

on a scale of 1 to 10 Snow, where would you rate this boss battle as compared to the other boss battles in the game?

1/10? as in epicness? or how hard it would be?
Akrid X seems like a darn fine reason to play that level as much as i battled in the demo :D
Anyway, i love these kind of little descriptions, i'll be looking forward to more of them Snow!

both epicness and difficulty :) although i would settle for one or the other lol. the AkridX battle does look/sound fantastic, but if their (capcom) is going this far in a boss battle, im wondering how much further they've gone since AkridX is obviously not the last boss battle.

It's hard to scale this as a 1 to 10 thing. The best way I can describe is like, each boss is hard and unique in their own ways. Each boss has it's own style that makes them epic in different ways. Personally, I can't really pick a favorite either. The enemies of Lost Planet are like my childrens, I luv dem all!

Anyways, but yea, just to sum up, the bosses are all damned awesome. And Akrid X is awesome since the first time I fought him. There's actually a bit of story around him, but not much. He's kind of that one really mysterious monster no one knows much about. He just kind of appears and raises hell until you and your team kill him.

so if im reading between the lines correctly you're saying were going to encounter this boss more then once? i dig the idea of a Akrid nemesis that ambushes ya at various times throughout the game lol.

Um, no...? Not sure how you got that from what I said, but once you kill him, he's dead man. Unless of course you go back and replay the chapter to kill him again and again.
