I got the survival pack, and if anyone in the lobby doesn't have the compatibility pack installed then all the dlc weapons and skins are disabled.
I'm guessing since there's no playlist for dlc, the map packs are put in rotation. How does this system work, I mean does it do the same as the weapon dlc in that the maps are disabled if anyone in the lobby doesn't have them so there's no voting on them, or does it put the maps up for vote and the people who don't have them in the lobby get kicked out when the match starts? Or are there separate servers for people with the dlc maps.
Some single player content in each of the map packs would have been an incentive to pick them up, but being solely multiplayer add ons they're only of use if other people have them and are playing them. At the moment it just looks like it'll be really hard to get any use out of the dlc maps, especially seeing as they're split into 3 packs and the lack of information besides a handful of screenshots and general descriptions of the maps is putting me off picking them up.
Some information on how they're integrated into the matchmaking would be appreciated, thanks.

I originally posted this in the DLC Maps announcement: Charging for DLC Maps = Terrible idea
Some studios such as Guerilla Games (Killzone) have come to acknowledge that DLC maps fragment multiplayer communities and have decided to make them free.
I know for certain that it happened to RE:ORC, with both sets of DLC maps splitting the shrinking multiplayer community.
For a game with such small community as LP3, this could be a fatal blow to the longevity of its multiplayer community, specially with 3 different sets of DLC maps. www.capcom-unity.com/gregaman/blog/2013/...

Yea, while I haven't had to wait long to get a match going as there's a decent amount of players on ps3, I don't think the community is strong enough to support these dlc maps.
It doesn't help there's been virtually no advertising or info apart from the general descriptions and screenshots, with no videos or trailers showing off any of the maps in action.
Don't think I'll be picking them up as I've PM'ed players met on psn (Haven't ran into anyone using a headset) and no one seems to have them. Shame as I'm really enjoying the multiplayer, especially akrid survival. Some more maps would have been nice, but looks like I'll just be sticking with the 6 standard ones.

I can also say that at this point the only way I'm buying this game is if a gold edition, with all DLC, is eventually released. In its current state, and specially after these DLC Maps announcements, it would be a terrible idea to buy the current version of the game.

Figured I'd help support the game and picked up all 3 map packs in the end, and recorded some footage of each:

You get an extra option on the screen with player match/private match that lets you restrict your search for matches to either any, or for the individual map packs that are installed.
