Okay, so before LP3 came out, I completely finished LP2 and LP1 just to get ready. I play on the Xbox 360, with my clan and such. This thread is completely opininon, I am just stating what I think to be accurate, please don't insult it just state your own opinion and move on. Anyway the point of this thread: why LP3 was a major loss on Capcom's part.
Campaign
1. Dead Gears style gameplay- If we wanted a "go here and do this and come back to do something like it again" game we would play DS. This is not including the snow based climate referring to DS3. Plus the gameplay and movement is like Gears of War a little too much for comfort.
2. Speed- Why does everything go so slow? Movement speed compared to the predecessors is a slow job instead of a sprint. Large areas need to be traversed quickly, not take five minutes to walk ten yards. My opinion is they didn't want us running through this insanely short game.
3. Length- This game's campaign was TOO SHORT! I finished campaign in ONE DAY compared to LP2's week plus.
4. Idea- The whole "Getting a main character to play as instead of a moshpit of random people" was a good idea, but poorly played. I would rather have a long campaign with more characters and customization than one person you can do nothing with.
5. Customization- This was, IMO, the best part about previous LP titles. I want a snow pirate with military legs, a teddy backpack, and bug rancher head. Now it's like "here is some random guy with no customization options, deal with it." (later noted this carries over to Multiplayer as well).
6. Lack of equipment- There is 2 grenades and like 6 weapons at our disposal to use...are we supposed to be happy about this? LP2 had around 20+ weapons and 10+ grenades, what hppened, did they just go poof? Understanding the prequel idea (terrible mistake every time) but we should still have a little more oomph.
7. Umbilical- What were they thinking? Let me go ten feet from the RIG and lose my entire HUD...that was a terrible idea, letting the player get lost easier and those with a small TV (like my friend) are unable to see their ammo remaining.
Multiplayer
1. Anti friendship- I play with a few friends, and everytime we find a game it splits everyone up. "Hey, that guy's party is leveled from 3-8, let me split them all up and dump some stupid high or really low ranks with them instead." I would rather play with my friends instead of having some random people be on my team that has no idea what to do.
2. Customization (again!)- What did Capcom have against letting us create our own people? It's like someone said, "nah, let's give as little player interaction and personality as possible!" Plus they took out the emotes...not cool. (not including Gamestop's pre order bonus).
3. Game flow- Most of the game types are objective, which is not all bad, but the only problem is: why is there only a whopping 4 gametypes? Not much fun playing the same thing over and over.
4. VSs (vital suits)- There is 2 maps with 2 VSs on each. I understand there are not many VS technologies back then, and that they are OP (which might need to be fixed), but vehicular warfare waas particurally fun back in the previous games.
5. Damage balance- The damage of weapons should really be rebalanced. "I got a shot gun that takes 1 second to pump and 2 shots to kill. Well I got my fist which takes .4 seconds to use and can kill you before you get of one shell." That basically summs of MP thus far, minus the grenade spam.
Other screw ups
1. Grapple system- Only in certain areas, boring. It was fun hanging from the cieling and hitting people off cliffs.
2. Jumping- Why... just why...
What they did right
1. Ranking system- I enjoy how you purchase your way up the rankings, allowing the player to have the free will of what they want to go for.
2. RIG- Kinda fun new idea, had a lot of toys to use, fun to drive. (little too slow for my opinion though)
3. Thermal as currency- I enjoy not having to be on edge when my thermal hits zero, but when it hits 20,000.
4. New Akrid species- Most of the new secies were fairly cool. (Only downside; there weren't nearly enough species like past titles).
All in all, I can be 100% positive. I will never be buying another Lost Planet game for quite some time. This game was just one big dissapointment in the Lost Planet saga. Thanks for reading, and if you have your own opinion, please share it here, just keep it clean and judgement/criticism free.
