Locked: LP3 crashes once I choose new game

I just finished installing LP3 this morning and when I went to start to play it I get a message from Windows saying that LP3 has stopped working.

I have:
Intel Core i7-3630QM @ 2.40GHz
12 gb ram
Windows 8 64-bit, x64-based processor
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660M

Is there any fix? I had already downloaded new drivers for the graphics card in a fruitless attempt to fix it myself.

I have same problem .... well I did once. Most of the time the game just crashes on startup.

Core i5 Quad,
4 GB Ram,
Win 7 Home Prem,
nVidia GTX 570 using 326.80 drivers.

I also tried installing all the stuff in _CommonRedist manually, Verified all files through steam, restarted steam multiple times. etc etc etc.

Here is the error from windows logs:

Faulting application name: LostPlanetGame.exe, version: 1.0.10246.0, time stamp: 0x521bebbd
Faulting module name: binkw32.dll, version: 1.9.99.0, time stamp: 0x4fcec689
Exception code: 0xc0000005

Try playing in windowed mode, Danny posted this fix on a steam forum steamcommunity.com/app/226720/discussion...

"Not sure BUT .... ALL READ THIS .....

Its a bug with the videos and full screen. Run in windowed mode and the videos work and it doesnt crash, The resaon it crashes after selecting the difficulty (if uve already renamed all the intro vids) is becuase it loads the opening video. If u are in windowed mode it will not crash.

Its a work around and frustrating but it works."

Now this is pathetic.... How can it be that devs allow such situations over and over again...  Half games  in last days has serious problems on PCs at launch day. What`s wrong with these people ???

Hey guys,

We're still looking into this issue. Have any of you posted your DXDiag on here or on Steam? If not, post it here when you can. Running in windowed mode seems to be a quick fix for the time being, and we'll make sure to update both forums when we have additional information for a permanent fix. What screen resolution is everyone here running with, BTW?

Thank you for your patience!

Quick edit: Adding Steam link. Steam thread also has been updated.

Thanks!

removing all movies from the lost Planet folder (Movies & MoviesPC folder) lets me play the game... without cutscenes... but hey, i can play and it looks fine,

i don´t think that is a fix, but you can play without binkw32.dll crashes :/

Hi All i have the exact same issue with in game movies crashing the game, Running W7 X64 with Intel I3570KCPU and ATI 7950GPU. If i remove the intro videos i can get to the title screen but even in windowed mode for me the game crashes on new game.  Ive updated DirectX/Video Drivers/Vredist x32/x64 but still the same result.  I tried another Binkw32.dll from another game (Saints Row IV) but still the same.  Im gonna try from a few other games to see if it makes any difference.

The annoying thing is it works on my Core2Duo laptop with pants onboard video no problem but the game is unplayable.  This is running W732bit.  I was wondering if its a 64bit windows issue?
