Hi all, I need help. Just got the Steam version.

When I launch the DirectX9 or DirectX10 version on STEAM and I get the error:

ERR06 : Unsupported pixel shader version detected. 2.0

What shall I do?

Your video card is not supported.  You need a card that can do at least Shader Model 3.0.  THere are a TON of threads on this topic already.

Please check the thread on Officially Support Video Cards. You MUST have a card that is compatible with PixelShader 3.0 and above. This requirement is stated both on the box copy, on the back of the box where it usually is, and on the right hand side of the Steam pages regarding the game, under System Requirements.

Hell. Great. Well.

I don't even know anything about PIXEL SHADER.  Why should I know about version 2 or 3 ???

I bought my Sony Desktop PC less than one year ago.  So.

I purchased GForce 8600 GTS last night and hell now it rocks.  Seeing the game now I am like   all the time.

But one question remains:

Why the hell could they not create meaningful error messages????  Like "Update your Grafic Card." or something???

I was like   and super--irritated with that "Fatal Error" message.

Ridiculous.

Aren't you glad you upgraded the video card?

I do apologize about the error message. If it's any consolation, I was confused by what that message meant as well in the first place, until we figured it out...

you don't need to spend $150 to get a card with pixel shader 3.0. there are many cards under $100 that have pixel shader 3.0. i know the ati x1000 series and above have it and i think the nvidia 7000 series and above have it. and i think a few in the 6000 series do too.
